Good. That was my preferred move. He's just a developmental guy. They've only carried 3 total OTs on the 53 for most of the past 3 years. They had 5 OTs with Parnell, Weems and Hawkins as the backups.

Me thinks we keep the fullback all season long. Opens a lot of posibilities in the running game.

i think they want a fb but the fact they put a fb on the ps yesterday makes me think we will soon cut a fb to make room for someone and the fb on the ps is an insurance poilcy incase ours gets signed. can't think of any other reason to even have a fb on the ps

This was the right move. Another good decision for the Jason / Jerry duo....
Maybe our GM has our coach trained the right way...:D

Maybe that's our insurance policy against injury to our fullback

I'm interested to see us really use him at some point. We certainly haven't needed him so far.

Good. Hang on to that fullback for another week.

The fullback isn't going anywhere this season, unless Dallas brings in a blocking tight end who can effectively block out of the backfield on short yardage. The Cowboys will either carry four TEs or three TEs and a FB. The sooner people accept that, the better off they will be.

I don't think he'll be used often because we have tight ends who are better. Dallas retains him for special teams and the few times each game it wants to stick a fullback out there for short-yardage situations.

Thing is, he's not a special ST player, either. Basically, he's a roster spot when we need one.

I thought sure with us adding Nikita Whitlock back to the PS this week that Clutts was a goner, but it looks like he survived another week, at least.

Dallas isn't keeping him because he's a special ST player. The Cowboys are keeping him because he's the best blocker out of the backfield they have for short-yardage situations. Adding Whitlock to the PS doesn't change the fact that Dallas wants a fullback (or at least a fullback type) on the active roster each week.

Based on the number of snaps the position gets, I'd probably try to see if I could get a backup linebacker like Cameron Lawrence to be a dual-purpose player, but Dallas doesn't seem to be interested in that.
