nope. i can never take anyone seriously who at ANY POINT IN THEIR LIFE said "genuflect to their greatness" in reference to a football player and not a renegade babe. : )

like i said, the need for drama seems to outweigh the need for common sense. can't tell if you're just kidding around, but am losing interest.

carry on.

renegade babe?

at any rate, yes, you're right I am obviously exagerating a little. You all should remember though that he did make the pro bowl. more than once I think. I guess t just think he'd make a significant improvement to the D if we had him back and healthy. Plus, to be honest, I really loved having a vietnamese middle linebacker as one of the teams leaders. But mainly he is a character guy and he brought a lot of intangibles to the team that many have underestimated and overlooked. I think the loss of Dat Nguyen has had an impact on the play of our D. And the loss of Dat may not show right away, but as the season wears on, and the pressures rise, anchors like Dat show their value.

Its like so many of the players who come through Dallas don't seem to appreciate how lucky they are to play with that star on their helmet. Some do though. George Teague and Billy Bates both come to mind. And I think Dat is another one of those guys.

Anyway, I really appreciated how much heart the guy played with while wearing the star. :toast:

Dat never made the Pro Bowl, although he probably should have at least once.

I'd sure as heck take him over roid rage shanle...
He is/was the leader that a certain player on this defense was supposed to be...

Dat's not a 3-4 guy. Neither is Glover/Ellis. You need big beast for this type of defense.

Day of the small guy is gone - Sorry folks.

Looks like you're right but I could have sworn he made alternate at least once. But one thing I do know. He's got the second most tackles in Cowboys history for a single season. I think that says it all.

Dat never made Pro Bowl.

Nice Cowboy player but not a 3-4 ILB lt and he broke down and knew it.

We might get a day 2 pick for him if he doesn't want to retire as he has expressed.

Still think the defense would have been better without this 3-4 experiment. Might be better next year if they add 2 LBers. 2 seasons to overhaul the defense to fit BP's pet scheme. Could have done it one, I think and then spent this offseason entirely on offense.

Shanle was much, much more effective as a part timer/nickel backer. Did he make any plays once he started playing full time?

2003 a lot of columnists and players felt that DAT should have made the pro bowl- but Urlacher (who did not have as good a season) and someone else I can't remember went. Dat was a leader and you cannot quantify that in tackles and assists and sacks. Leadership is also something that AL had as well- quietly. Lose both and it does not take long for the effect to be seen. No matter what moronic bleating you get from idiots like nors.

yes the Zimmer era 4-3 had 1 good season in his era
One winning season too - and that was Parcells doing in 2003

Whats the fascination with average players that never won anything in their era?

We are today at least having a winning season in playoff hunt.

many people do appreciate dat. we appreciate just about all players who've come and gone for the most part. dat *was* a good, solid player for us.

but when you start the "genuflect" crap, you may as well put on a jester cap and dance around as people will generally take you only that seriously.

you ever "not" agree with someone but still give them some credit or benefit of doubt. this "all knowing nors" is usually what irks people. fyi. : )
