Ok he should play this week, but...

I can see Dat's injury becoming a continuous problem. Necks are never a good thing to mess with, he can reinjure it at any time because he flys around so much (I know that is probably everybody on the field). And I am one of the biggest Dat fans, but I have this awful gut feeling that he is going to go down again. I really hope not, but its just a feeling that I have.

His injury may not be a problem at all, and I hope so. Dat is an all out football player, and a class guy.

He's got a stinger. I got a major one in the opening kick return of our last season (knocked me the F out) and I didn't miss a snap cuz of it all year. Hurt like a B**** too. It's just a matter of dealing with the pain and knowing it's not something that will cause you problems later on. The only reason I kept playing is cuz of my nephew, or else I would of sat out a couple of games. It ended up not bothering me at all after about 4 or 5 games. I think Dat will be fine.

Perhaps the doctors on the board can fill us all in on Stingers but as I understand them they are caused by a pinching of the nerve around the neck region. This pinching causes pain and temporary loss of muscle control to the extremities depending on the location of the damage. The bigger concern, stealing from Football Outsiders:

The problem of stingers is not the short term pain and loss of function, it’s the longer-term consequences that come from repeated instances. Dan Gable, the legendary wrestler and one of the greatest coaches in any sport, has nearly lost function in one arm due to repeated stingers. Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila has had repeated problems with stingers, something that the Packers are definitely watching. Missle-type players like KGB and some rush-backers are showing a definite proclivity for this injury.

I'd be curious to know if this is a chronic injury with Dat or a one time episode?

That was at training camp and he hit rocket in the helmet with his big *** thighs. I remember seeing that clip on the news.

Dat has had a history of injury and at least one has been related to shoulder and neck injury.
