Datone Jones

Sounds like they are not happy with Taco Charlton................................

I'm not convinced he will prove himself to be what a first round pick is supposed to be and equally just as unconvinced that the staff has passed judgment on him as yet. Taco needs at least one and perhaps two offseasons to gain strength and develop further in terms of his technical skills.

The next two years should be much more revealing in terms of how to guesstimate his worth and developmental progress in general. Many, if not most, rookies don't demonstrate their full capacities in year one anyway.

I think we might even be seeing more of him in the weeks to come to assess his progress further, in preparation for the offseason and the draft. The staff has apparently come to terms with the idea that our playoff chances are somewhat remote at best.

He was OK, not great with the Packers.

Similar to Tyron Crawford in some ways but without the big contract.

Played in Packers 3-4 at DE and OLB. Not an ideal fit at either. He seems more like a 4-3 DT on passing downs or 4-3 DE on in base.

Oh great. Now we have to hear people talking about how this guy is going to save our defense. Put a star on his head and they all come out of the woodwork.

Love this pick up...Finally some speed @ DT in a pass rusher!!!! :hammer:
Umm, Floaty. A #284 DT is too small !
If they intend to use him inside, he is almost the same as Irving - who is too small.
Dont get it, and if he's a strong side DE as I think he is. He joins the list with all the others wr have on the roster.

Remember how much of an impact Hardy was until that Philly writer care out with that article.. bad timing to sign a guy when the team in a season where the offense decides to implode..

He's right on par with DLaw production at this point of his rookie year. Maybe he'll break out in the wildcard round of the playoff and get a strip sack against Rodgers at the end of the 4th to seal the game after Jeff Heath scolds him for not getting a fumble recovery on the previous play.

To be totally honest, I'm not entertaining any fantasies of this Cowboys' team doing anything at all regarding a playoff this year. As of now, our playoff hopes are, unfortunately, slim and none. Reality can be a cold mistress.

Candidly, I'm thinking much more in terms of what Charlton might do next year and beyond in regards to his development. Here's hoping he simply manages to justify his 1st round pick in some way or another. Color me discouraged but surely not hopeless in terms of our possibilities of eventually seeing him succeed.

He has some talent but like many said, another anchor or strongside end.

This draft seems really strong at one position and that is weakside end. This FO tends to overvalue our own players, as well as their own perceived cleverness, so no clue which direction they will go in the draft.

I do like this Jones signing though, so props to the FO.
Yeah..

We seem to always take bargain basement quality..

figuring Martinelli can coach them up.

Ergo..

Taco.

It's like shopping for a car and buying a used ,10 year old car..

and planning on investing the savings on needed repairs.

It's still a 10 year old car brother.

We think we can hit on them and play the odds.

For example..

Demarcus Lawrence..

Drafted high 2nd round ..

was a project from the start.

Doesn't stabilize his position until his 4th year.

Now he will be a FA.

What a waste.

Maybe you have a reading comprehension problem because nobody said that in this thread.

I just find it interesting to analyze players. Especially 1st rounders that are still young.

I think he could be a bargain basement option in the event they pull the trigger on Crawford. Can play DE/DT for about 20% of the price.

Positive:

Switching from 3-4 to 4-3 means less double teams which indicates he might excel here or free somebody else up to boost the pass rush.

At 3-Tech I’m assuming now, he’s an upgrade over the practice squad jags unless they rotate him at the 1.

Collins being moved to 1-Tech (From 3,) killed our interior push.

Can we just get a real 1-Tech already?
