David Akers

Buehler was never a good kicker so I see no point in keeping him over Bailey. Biggest mistake the Cowboys ever made (concerning kickers) was giving up on Folk after an injury affected his kicking.

Give Bailey a chance and see if he could develop into a solid kicker. If he doesn't, fire Boniel!
 Please stop with Folk stuff for goodness sake. He stinks with the Jets, very inconsistent. He wasn't good here anymore and not good with the Jets.

Signed with San Francisco.

And I heard that he kicked a 55 yarder a few weeks ago.

We're doing something wrong at our kicking position.

You think it could be coaching?

Folk was worst than Buehler during his end days. No choice in releasing him.

Shayne Graham has a higher career % than Akers and is no risk financially.

Ain't that the truth.

I'd love to see the numbers over the past 5 years of our kicker's success percentages vs those of opposing kickers success percentages.

At first guess I would think that the numbers would be close.

Code:
            Dallas Opps
  2010 75% 93%
  2009 65% 69%
  2008 91% 86%
  2007 84% 81%
  2006 71% 88%

Analysis has shown over and over again that teams should go for it much much more on 4th down than they do. The reason coaches don't do this is that nobody complains when they kick and everybody complains when they go for it and fail.

Garrett's smart - he knows all this. Having a lousy kicker is a great way to justify doing the right thing and going for it way more often without risking your job. It's all part of Garrett's plan. (He also knows that distance on kickoffs is very important and extremely underrated).

Sarcasm right?

I just don't understand why we didn't try and sign him this year. We had a chance to get a great kicker and passed on our chance.

because Jerry is an idiot, and doesn't want to pay any money for a kicker or a long snapper...if he could get those guys where they have to pay him to be on the roster, then that's what he'd do..

Which teams pay a lot of money for long snappers? The Cowboys currently have one of the best long snappers in the league.

I think Jerry would be willing to pay a lot of money for a good kicker, but for the most part those high dollar really good kickers just aren't available.

You have a problem with Ladouceur?

:laugh2: I'm not sure I've ever seen Ladouceur have a bad snap. Anyone remember one?

What is worse than the high percentage of kicks against us is that when was the last time a kicker missed a game winning shot against us?
