I've been hoping for weeks they'd work a deal with Dalton Risner. I figured he was too expensive (?) and thought (hoped) they'd draft someone in the 2nd. Well, that didn't happen so maybe there's hope for Risner after all. I don't feel a great starter is on the team yet, not counting Tyler Smith of course.

Our best hope is Tyler staying at guard.
If we are really going to play the 5 best linemen then I think you are 100% correct. I just want them to leave Tyler at LT where he belongs. If we’re counting on Tyron to start at LT so Tyler can play LG, it will likely be short-term. I have no confidence in Tyron playing every game. He should be swing tackle because he can’t be counted on anymore.

I like Richards but he ain’t ready for anything other than emergency spot duty. He’s getting ready for the biggest jump in competition he has ever experienced. He needs development.

I looked at Edoga when we were considering him the first time and wasn’t that impressed. If you get a free moment, go back and look at the Jets boards when we were looking at him as a replacement. They were begging for us to take him and would have been satisfied with a 7th.
Sounds like Bernadeaux and Livings part two.

Wasn’t even believable how bad they were.

Our season basically relies on Tyron staying healthy, Steele recovering way ahead of schedule, and the staff willing to do the right thing with the best five and not worry about what’s best for who’s future.

Richards is better than I thought, Strong, good drive blocker and finisher, three year starter.
Graded higher than
Blake Freeland
Breeden Daniels
Tyler Steen
Nick Saldiveri
Emil Ekiyor
Jaelyn Duncan
McClendon Curtis
Wanya Morris
Warren McClendon
exactly. The guy has a shiet ton of starts under his belt. I think he might end up starting at LG week 1. I still think Tyron is the swing.

Mac Brown coached Richards. He said the guy was eager to listen and the best lineman he had ever coached as far as having the grit it takes to beat his man. I like this kid.

I agree 100%........they may already have one or two in their back pocket coz it's obvious they had no interest in any of the top prospects. Again, remember we have a new Oline coach. In other words, this starting LG issue ain't over...at all.

David who?

Dave hated the Tyler Smith thing last year. Seems he was wrong.

Lol. I mean he did play in the ACC. It's not chopped liver. I guess we'll see what happens. Positionally speaking, he was coached by some pretty good OL coaches. He's got a good frame and work ethic.
I’m not saying he doesn’t have potential. I’m just saying a 5th rounder from a weak guard class, who is transitioning to a position he hasn’t played, and has known gaps in his game, probably shouldn’t be counted on as much of a contributor his 1st year. The ACC may not be chopped liver but he is getting ready to compete against the best grown men in football. Let’s let him get his first snap at guard before we start setting expectations. There is a difference between optimism and delusion.

Tyler at guard means he doesn’t play guard all year. Expecting Tyrone to play 17 games is not a sound plan
But that appears to be the plan

:hammer: If this team thinks it's fine @ left guard when Tyron gets hurt...and we can slide Tyler out and just insert Edoga...They are sadly mistaken.

yeah, pretty much describes every player in the draft. they'll have to adjust, to the league, potentially a new pos. and def with regards to what their Pro Team is asking them to do. there's a difference between finding some pros and cons and whining. atp, it's on the player. so yes, let's get him some snaps
