I've been going back and forth on a corner/safety or a TE in the first round. Both deep and talented classes, I think if we don't choose one or the other in the first, we'll still have a shot at a quality player from one of these positions in the second.

However, I think David Njoku is the guy I'm wanting in the first round. Just freakish abilities, being 6-4 running a 4.6 and having his vertical, tight ends like this aren't in the draft every year. Then you watch his tape, and his speed is actually there. It's not combine speed, it's actual game speed. But the most impressive thing I like about him is where he is at as a blocker - while he's not perfect, he's a guy who at times just completely locks up the lineman he's going up against. He actually looks like an offensive lineman from time to time.

This isn't Escobar, this is a TE coming into the league with freakish abilities and a good blocker that should only get better having a smaller role his first year before finally pushing Witten into that smaller role he should be in at this point in his career.

Not sure about Njoku as a blocker, I am sure about him as a mismatch and play maker.

Like Njoku, Engram, Shaheen, Saubert and even Darrell Daniels but TE is a luxury pick in first round right now. Witten is not giving up his starter spot for a few years, and still have Swaim and Rico Suave as 2nd TEs.

I like him a ton. FWIW, something a scout said about Njoku, as reported by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob McGinn...

“I don’t know how you can take an unproductive backup guy from an average team in the first or second round,” a second scout said. “He’s going to blow the combine out and he’s a track guy. As far as a football player, he is a long ways away.”

I'm afraid the Cowboys will pass on a lot of these TE's because they aren't good enough blockers. I don't agree with it because a guy like Njoku is a playmaker no matter what position you want to put him at. But our coaches may require whatever TE is/isn't picked to be a good inline blocker. I'm expecting guys like George Kittle or Michael Roberts to be targets in the 4th

I think its Howard in the first, Butt in the 2nd or no TE

I just want the best players available. If you can get a stud over a JAG at a position of need, do it. I'd be happy with Njoku if we think he can be something special.

If Howard is there at #28, the Cowboys take him. He can do it all.

He's not a great blocker, but he definitely shows a willingness to get after it. That effort leads me to believe he can develop that area of his game over time.

I've actually started to think DE won't be the pick at 28. CB or Safety will probably be better values. Maybe Ross is there and is the pick. Njoku and Howard might be the picks over all of those if they are there. Harris and Lawson just don't do anything for me and I would take Njoku over those 2 strictly over being a much better player.

I think Witten is gonna hang em up after this season. His bro is gone.
