Odd, tha just as we got comfortable in our low opinion of the Defence and Marinade in particular, the boys put in a respectable day's work against a highly regarded Commanders offence.
Smug we were and I was in our expert analyses.

So on a thunderous, sodden and surly tundra of the Skins, there continued to arise our two future monsters. They rode in on horses called Opportunism and Burst.
Then the unheralded, nay, unwanted Scandrick and the inegmatic Crawford and Jones rode in on My Little Ponies called Pinky, Wildfire and Seldom to seal the deal.

Yesss, on that tumultuous, traumatizing, Teutonic and tremorous tundra trodded by Tinactin covered feet stood a defence looking for respect and, as the ruffians back home and in far-flung places roared their approval, in the back of their minds was a defensive effort --- save the fainthearted and milquetoast secondary --- covered in glory.

As the appalachian and uncouth and carny-like old gimmie would say --- blimey, where is he?--- "I half to say, I am so happy, I could eat three steaks!
I have to step away and dry me bedroom eyes ....

When we can stop the run vs. a team that is trying to run and can, I will feel better about our defense.

The defensive line is playing the best ball it has played in years----in terms of pass rushing the QB. It was also a little better today in terms of run defense so that's also a plus.

I am a little bit surprised that the Commanders didn't try to isolate Thompson in the passing game on our linebackers in space. That was very fortuitous for us.

Well that's not exactly a highly regarded Skins offense.

They couldn't run the ball when they had their full OL and were down 3 guys today.

As noted above, when they play well against a real offense (like the one coming into Dallas this weekend) then we can talk.

Even with the questionable TD late in the game (that whole series was questionable), that was the Commanders lowest point total of the season, outside of Game 1 against Philly.

Thats been the hilarious thing all year. They simply don't use Thompson enough.

Ehh, it was an ok performance on a very rainy day and they dropped a few long ones. We had three opportunities to end the game and did not do it on that final Commanders drive-Woods missed tackle and two missed picks

Today they were fey. But from weeks past they were playing good ball.
Let us not minimize OUR performance. I was doing the Robot and yelling, Crushing Defence, Yo! as we crushed them up front.
Drink! If the lady won't allow it, drink within yourself and get tiddly this cold night in God's Land of Farmers Branch or your aspirational hamlet!
Speak unto us the good things today, sullen lad!

Long ways to go. I still don't like the schematics. Need to get better at the MIKE and at SS. Need to be more effective at blitzing.

Quit with the fake narrative. It's a distraction.

And when I gave you the phone number of the Duquesne sisters, you were not appreciative, either.
I hope you can see the incremental improvements therein, popular school lad.

Yes, duly noted.
Thank you, bloke for hurting my feelings.
I get the feeling that when the Quarrymen played at the Harvest Moon Dance Fair in Liverpool, 1957, you were the one who disparaged the band and heckled the boys who had the nerve to dance. (With apologies to CS&N)
Now you can go scowl at another goodhearted lad. Go now. Assuage your feelings of vague discomfort.

Last year we were one of the top teams against the run and have almost the same personnel on defense (front 7) so what gives? Did Barry Church make that much of a difference? Was it Terrell McClain? Or did Marinelli change his philosophy to have the four down lineman just focus on getting pressure and not worry about the run?

I feel super pumped about the dawning of a new day with our great defense.

Quick question...

It's gonna rain every game from here on out, right?

Oh, also: our opponents will all be starting a 2nd-string o-line, too, right?

And all of our future opponents have also agreed to fumble returns and let us block kicks, too, right?

As long as all of those conditions are repeated, I totally agree we'll be stifling all of our opponents like we did today. Cool, cool, cool.

Did the game not end on a pick six?

The two dropped INTs were not your typical Oscan ball is right in your hands standing flat footed drops. They were two made by very athletic guys that the QB did not think they could make play on the ball.

Well, at least they made good on the 4th chance to end the game. The possible picks by Taco and Jaylon would have been great plays but Woods has to make that tackle!

I have some hope for the defense but Brown and Heath have to play a lot better than they are right now. I think the biggest mistake of the offseason was letting Church go. Can our dline make enough plays to make up for the holes in the secondary? - I am not quite sure. Will Awuzie be an upgrade if he ever gets on the field? Will Woods take over Heaths spot? Is he better in coverage? I think these are the questions that will define the rest of our season.

Richard Ash looked good yesterday!
