BaltCowboy brought this up recently that he heard Bryan Broaddus believe Daxton Hill could be a fallback option at pick #24. When you look at his draft profile, he fits like a glove what the front office and Dan Quinn seeks:

Some tibits from Draftbuzz report:

-Crazy athletic talent who could very easily run in the mid 4.2's in the combine - reminiscent of Deion Sanders
-Long-armed press safety with size, athleticism, and ball skills.
-Hill put up the top SPARQ rating in the 2019 class
-With his length, athleticism, and natural ball skills, he will be highly valued by press cover teams and could earn a top 50 pick.
-Plays the ball as if it was thrown for him, showing burst back to the ball as well as good timing for the jump ball.

That profile looks awfully similar to Earl Thomas coming out of Texas. Doesn't appear to have Earl's elite ball skills, but does possess everything other trait. Yes, has some size/frame concerns, but Quinn has used undersized slot corners types at the position in the past.

He is definitely a name to watch throughout the process.

Unless Quinn uses a Jedi mind trick, this team isn’t taking a safety in the first round. The front office has made it clear they don’t value the position

Safety and defensive tackle and can be removed in round one for sure

I’m a fan of Daxton Hill. I think he’s a really smart DB that actually tackles despite his relatively thin frame.

My comp. for him is the Bengals Jessie Bates.

With all that said, he doesn’t feel like a player we’d take at #24.

Bates isn't the tackler, but a pretty good comparison nonetheless.

I’m not taking him at 24.

But I’d move down, take him and then double down with Arnold Ebiketie or Zion Johnson.

Ive been on board with Hill for a while. Insane athlete. Run a 4.3 at a HS combine. Good rounded player. Biggest drawback is his ball skills are probably mediocre. However considering the rate we generated TO's, thats less of an issue with me now.

Cowboyny did not say the Cowboys were going to draft Hill. He is just educating us on prospects that the Cowboys will consider taking at 24. The reality is the Cowboys don’t have a free safety on the roster at the moment. A good free safety is one of the most important players on Dan Quinn’s defense. Free safety along with left guard is the most glaring issue at this moment.

Most of the talkimg heads love this guy. Personally i dont like taking DBs round one. However if he is clearly the BPA i dont mind taking him there because this year there are even less 1st round grades than usual and nothing is gusrenteed at 24.

Hill is a good football player. Elite athlete. You don’t take a Safety with his skill set in round 1. There are better options for this team in round 1 and 2.

I view Hill as a Byron Jones type player. All I've seen Dax play is slot CB. Can anyone direct me to a game where he's played FS like he would for Dallas? I'd love to see a FS running a 4.3 patrolling the deep middle.

I can see a team drafting him to play CB.

That’s my knock. He only played 63 snaps at FS compared to 531 in the slot

He doesn’t look uncomfortable in that sample. But still takes a bit of projection to determine he can be a full time FS at the next level.

To play devil’s advocate, modern free safeties are used more like slot corners, Honey Badger for example. He is more of a hybrid corner/safety and can play anywhere in the secondary

Dudes a stud, but I’m not really sure what I’m getting from him as a safety. Everything I’ve seen he’s always playing slot CB so I honestly have no idea what kind of back end safety he is.
