Day 1 and 2 OTAs summary

Clarence Hill indicated that D. Bland was not thrilled about playing the slot in his contract year.
If you watch the entire Pod, that is explained as to why, and a more accurate explanation of Blands reaction.

He didn't like it but he'll be a team player and suck it up!! Nah be a man say how you feel and stick to it!!!

He was better in the slot though

Didn't this Youtube channel used to be "Dak Attack"

Good to see a name change.
dont know but i cant watch any of these people. Yes, Im old and get off my lawn.
But everyone seems to have a blog or a YouTube channel now -- which immediately makes them an authority.

They want to put Bland in the nickel to keep his contract demands low? I dunno about that one.

I like him. I do, but he is destined to be overpaid.

Also don’t understand how he isn’t one of the top two healthy corners on the team as of this moment. Who am I missing? Maybe they are expecting to add Gilmore. Still, you’d figure Bland to be a starter on this team. So maybe he lines up in the slot at times. What’s the big deal?

Seems like a non issue to me.

I’m only for paying second contracts to top 5 CBs. And they have to tackle and cover and take the ball away and score tds at an elite level.

This team does not understand pay dynamics, and pragmatism. You pay elite lineman that can play the run or pass game extremely well. You pay an elite QB. You pay elite weapons on offense. You pay an elite cerebral linebacker that can play the run and pass extremely well.

You pay number of years (guaranteed money) based on their ability to likely stay healthy and playing at their elite level. You pay average annual salary based on current market. You pay recognizing that if the player loses a step or becomes a headache-you may need to just eat the contract and move on (no matter sentimentality of previous performance or current revenue the player brings in). You pay for winning play because winning big games is the best marketing that you can possibly do for your franchise (at least long term).

Bland has played on the outside for 2 straight years, so I can definitely see why he prefers to stay outside just from a football playing standpoint. Example: that's like moving Tyler Smith back to LT. When a player has been All-Pro at a position, why move him.

From a coaching standpoint moving Bland makes sense because he's probably the best for the job once everyone is healthy.

Bland is getting paid no matter where they put him. Either in Dallas or somewhere else.
I agree, he made All-Pro on the outside, so the agent is going to use that season for his position in negotiations, I would assume.

They don’t have options at corner.

Jourdan Lewis was a big loss for this defense.

Everyone looks good now. It's the underwear Olympics, ota style. No way in Hades we can know much yet. But what we can see is the new HC and staff does have a style by which we wanna play. It's refreshing to see change at least.
