Jourdan Lewis was a big loss for this defense.

That’s what I was asking….how is Bland not one of the top two physically able corners on the team as of now?

Maybe they are just getting him work in the slot, I don’t really see the problem or why Bland would.

Because the slot is probably the most difficult position on defense.

He can’t squat on routes as much which he is great at.

No sideline to protect him so it’s easier to give up passes.

All this could lead to less money for him.

But he’s our best option. They desperately need a slot corner.

Hopefully Carson and Mukuamu can show something.

I know Mukuamu can trail on drags really well.

Clarence Hill indicated that D. Bland was not thrilled about playing the slot in his contract year.

I get why he wouldn’t but he’s good in the slot and if he gets 5-6 picks his market value will be fine. We should extend him and move on from Diggs

He is. We probably want him in the slot because it is one of the most important positions in Eberflus's scheme. Doesn't mean he isn't going to play outside when we only have two corners on the field.

Everything I'm hearing is they are having issues getting anything productive done with Akingbesote on the field.

They aren't saying he wouldn't start or be one of their top two. They're saying in nickel he'd move inside because it's so tough to play there and he's the best we'd have.

I’m only for paying second contracts to top 5 CBs. And they have to tackle and cover and take the ball away and score tds at an elite level.

This team does not understand pay dynamics, and pragmatism. You pay elite lineman that can play the run or pass game extremely well. You pay an elite QB. You pay elite weapons on offense. You pay an elite cerebral linebacker that can play the run and pass extremely well.

So if he's a top 10-15 corner out of 64 starters, you wouldn't give him a second contact? Why not?

Obviously he wouldn't get a record setting deal, but not everyone is CeeDee or Micah. What if he got an Osa type deal?

I think Juhnye will get an opportunity to play Nickle, he fits how Eberflus plays that position. But your right losing JLew is definitely a big loss, set us back at a position of need. Hard to imagine Flus didn't like him.

I heard they would’ve dropped Diggs this offseason but they couldn’t move him because he wasn’t healthy.

Then I guess you were sick of Zack Martin too. When we had injuries at Tackle one year and there were rumors he'd be asked to fill in he said, "I get paid to play Guard" or something like that. Not a team player, right?

Most guys will not re-up without knowing what is out there in free agency. Osa got an outstanding contract considering his miserly production. 2 sacks, then 4, 3, 4.5. For a three tech without amazing run stopping ability. He’s okay and way better than anything else the team had at DT for a team that loves to pay their own draftees. I’m okay paying when there is a clear plan of getting better (or the player has already proven their abilities with production and likely will get better and be healthy the duration of the contract), and less okay paying when the idea is-don’t get worse.
