Garrett basically cost himself a head coaching job, that guy is an idiot. We all know about letting him play Barber way too much, and using the stupid wild cat down inside the 20, deep drops under a heavy rush.

But when Flo went out, he had Witten blocking their best rusher, NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE AND BOTH TIMES ALLEN KILLED US FOR A 1 YARD LOSS ON A DRAW, AND A SACK, FUMBLE. (back to back plays)

Bye Garrett, get out of dodge dude.

Last time people, on the sack, Free blocked down instead of peeling out as he was supposed to.

Why? I can understand giving him a pass last year but this year?

What else can we do? He's got a huge guarantee coming so he's going to be here. All we can do is hope he snaps out of whatever it is thats eating at him.

In his 4 full seasons in Detroit he averaged about 62 receptions for over 900 yds and 7 tds. His year this season represented career lows in receptions and yds. Hopefully he gets more in line with what his average season was next year. With Austin on the other side permanently he will get plenty of 1 on 1 opps next year.

Just have to hope for the best. Otherwise next yr will probably be his last here.

Hoping for the best and "giving him a pass" aren't the same thing.

I hope for the best but I'm damn sure not gonna let him slide by without criticism. He's earned it.

The Jets are destroying the "home field is imperative" meme. As did the Giants a few years ago and the Steelers a few years before that. A 1 or 2 seed would be preferable, but a 3 or 4 needn't wreck your dreams.

Spot on.

9. Chan Gailey to the Bills is no more freaking hilarious than Wade Phillips staying with the Cowboys.

Spot on and too bad for us. Wade will NEVER get us where we need to go.

Those examples are few and far between over the long haul.

The Jets shouldnt even be in the playoffs, and beat SD because their probowl calibar kicker inexplicably missed 3 FG's.

Minnesota having homefield Sunday had a significant impact on this game IMO.

Few and far between. Lets see Steelers and Giants in last couple of years?... seems like its a trend to me. AND "IF" Jets win then your post is destroyed.

Jets beat SD not because their kicker missed. They won because their defense, the defense that Rex said would win it for them. They won because Rivers, a vet QB made rookie mistakes. Throwing INT when you are practically in your own end zone. THAT PICK broke their back.

Minnesota was going to crush us no matter where. A blowout and homefield is out the window. We didnt lose 24-14 or 31-21. We got smoked. They would have been all over Romo even if they were ice skating in the Wolman Rink in NYC.

If it's not going to hurt our cap then now is the year to suck it up and cut him.

3 examples out of how many?

Did the guy miss 3 fg's or not? What was the final score of the game? The Jets defense didnt stifle SD's offense. Again, the Jets didnt even belong in the playoffs. They got there because they faced two teams in back to back games that made no effort to win the game. I give them credit for winning these two games, but they are a fluke more than anything else.

Minnesota was going to crush us no matter where. A blowout and homefield is out the window. We didnt lose 24-14 or 31-21. We got smoked. They would have been all over Romo even if they were ice skating in the Wolman Rink in NYC.

They might have still won, but their pass rush wouldnt have been anywhere near as effective had we been at home and had the crowd noise working to our advantage. It definitely had an impact on Romo's ability to adjust the snap count, I think it also had an impact on the playcalling and formations too, as we didnt use the shotgun as much as we probably should have.

The game's score was lopsided, but our guy missed two fg's, otherwise it would have still been a one possession game in the 4th quarter. It got out of hand later in that quarter.

Honestly I don't think Wade deserve to be back. Maybe if we didn't get bounced from the playoffs 34-3. This is just sad on Wade and Garrett.

I agree with:
  • Need an upgrade at safety!
  • OL needs help - and it takes time to develop these guys, so they better get it right this offseason!
  • The offensive coaching staff needs help - OL and coordination of all units! The blocking looked lost Sunday!
  • DL line depth could quickly become a problem; needs to be taken care of!

All the more reason why this is not 1991 like some people have suggestion.

Far too many holes to repair in one offseason.

I did say "trend". Understand?

Missed fields are a plenty in the NFL and especially in these playoffs. So what??
The Jets defense DID "stifle" them enough win.

The Cowboys were crushed at home last year 44-6 so it is so very possible that the Vikings do EXACTLY what they did at home in our house. Not a stretch even if you dont think its possible.

I must say, as a very knowledgeable poster your tact sucks. I mean that in the most respectful way.

Your opinion is no more important (or correct) than anyone elses.

Three examples is not a trend, not when we've had 6 playoff teams in the postseason for as long as we have now.

What was the final score of the Chargers game? Again, the guy left NINE pts on the board. A Teams defense has nothing to do with a guy missing or making a field goal, other than effecting field position before the kick itself.

I think they were more lucky than good.

If you are basically going to trash out the post, it helps to get your facts straight. The loss to Philly last year was on the road by the way.

Three in four years IS a TREND. Sorry.

The defense made them go for FG's instead of sustaining drives and going for dagger-like TD scores. We can agree to disagree here. AGAIN, kickers miss kicks.

I would give Jets more credit then they were more lucky than good. When you are that good then luck finds you too. You know this from our past success.

My bad on Philly reference. I was wrong!
Doesnt change that I feel we get embarassed at home with Wade leading the charge. Again, agree to disagree there.

As I noted in another response, we lost to Philly 44-6 in Philly.

As for the rest of your comment, the Vikes were a totally different team on the road this yr, especially late in the season. I dont know why they were, but if the Cardinals, Panthers and Bears can carve up their defense and have no problem with pass protection, then it isnt that hard to believe we couldnt do that as well. We were certainly better than all of those teams. The Panthers did what they did with Matt Moore and two backup offensive tackles playing the entire game.

When your team gets destroyed 34-3 and was very non-competitive I think you have to at least make some changes.

Also, I think I am a little miffed about why anyone would still be willing to give Roy Williams a pass.

Personally, I think I am going in the opposite direction as most as I am getting more angry at the loss as we get further away from when the game was played.

We're not the first team that lost by a lopsided score. And again, the game was closer than the final score indicated. It was 17-3 going into the 4th qtr and had Suisham made those fg's, its a one possession game.

I agree there are areas that need to be improved. But I dont think things need to be blown up and started over because of one loss.

Also, I think I am a little miffed about why anyone would still be willing to give Roy Williams a pass.

Maybe it was a poor choice of words on my part. I guess my point is that this year is over, we're basically stuck with the guy and we have to hope for the best. Hopefully he can earn Romo's trust again and become a more viable part of the offense.

The loss stinks, but I dont think there is any comparison between this years situation and last years. Last years team quit and had back to back embarrassing displsy to end the season. This years team got better at the end, but wasnt good enough in Minensota. I was all for firing Wade after the 44-6 game, I dont think he deserves to be run off after this year though.

David, I don't think this team needs to be blown up but I do think some changes need to be made.

Also, I have to disagree with you, I don't think this game was very close at all. It was extremely clear early on who wanted to play in the NFC Championship Game and who didn't. I really believe the way the team played in Minnesota is almost as embarrassing 44-6. The only difference is that in Minnesota, only 1 unit quit.

I do agree that we are stuck with Roy Williams but at some point, I believe Jerry Jones and the Coaching Staff have to look past his Contract and start paying more attention to his production, especially if you are only going to throw the ball to him 1 time in a Playoff Game.
