Day After Thoughts

He did call a screen and Miles dropped the dam ball :banghead:

But the problem with that is why Miles?

It should have been Felix Jones instead.

For one thing the 2 minute drill at the end of the game was awful. We should have called something like a screen or even a draw if he wanted a field goal. Yet Garrett played to what the defense was giving us.....dump off passes didn't help us at that time and I wish that we could have gone for a TD instead.

People are bagging the defense for giving up the late score and RW for fumbling, but the 2 minute offense is as much to blame as anything else. After we got down to the N.O. 42 yd line, the choice of plays/throws were horrible on 1st,2nd and 3rd downs. There should've been AT least one(maybe 2) high % playcalls, either a draw or a screen pass. If nothing else, you give your FG kicker an extra 5-7 yds to make the FG attempt a more realistic kick. Who knows, maybe your RB breaks one for 15-20 yds. And we had 2 timeouts to work with so there was no excuse.

Are you just looking for reasons to bash Garrett?

Why Austin?

Maybe because he has better hands than Felix. Or oh I don't know. Maybe because he housed a 60-yarder in the game that was our longest play of the game.

Dont get this at all. We've played our 3 best offensive games of the year the last 3 weeks, with a 38yr old backup QB and a OL on its last legs.

Nobody played better against the Saints defense this yr than we did yesterday.

The problem I'm seeing is that Garrett is too attached to certain players. Take for instance Barber. For the likes of me I have no idea why Barber is in the game at all. We lean on him too much to make the big plays and its evident with that 4th and 1 play on a pitchout.

On the other hand, Dez didn't even touch the ball once in the 1st half. Call it good defense by NO. But we didn't even try it at all.

I feel we need someone different calling the offense. Someone who is aggressive and someone who is willing to take a chance. Red Head can still be headcoach and focus on other issues.
