Thomas is a good prospect. I wouldn't mind him at all.

Well, the real draft always goes much differently than the mock, so I don't put much stock into it.

I am not saying that at all.

Just saying I don't think Thomas solves what ails us. Which is why he's not a draft pick at DE that would excite me. Can't be any clearer than that.

But there is more than 1 way to get to the passer...it's not really an arguable fact. The sack leader board is filled with 270+ lb guys every year that aren't "fast twitch" and run 4.5 40's.

And we've talked about these "more than one way to get to the QB" ideas for a few years now and it hasn't worked.

I don't believe Thomas is the elixir. I suspect he'll be a fine DE in this league - good run support, maybe 5-6 sacks a year. Nice, productive, but not elite. I don't believe he'll be a pass rush stud and that is why I simply do not get excited when I see his name linked to us.

I would prefer a guy like McKinley, a more athletic guy on the edge, or Taco Charlton.

No one player is the "elixir".

I'd wager Thomas will be a better football player than either McKinley or Charlton. Every Cowboy fan should be thrilled if we got Thomas. Not that it matters, I think Thomas will be long gone before we pick. I wouldn't mind Charlton in the 1st round, but I've seen nothing from him that leads me to believe he'll be better than Thomas. IMO, McKinley isn't a 1st rounder and shouldn't even be considered with the 1st pick.

What we really need is more good players on the defensive side of the football, and not trying to force something in the draft if it isn't there.
