I know that we gave up a 2018 5th to get the 6th to take Woods, but how did we acquire the third 7th round pick?

we traded back in the 6th with NE. they took McDermott.

Didn't see any clarification. So I'm assuming it's their own pick.

I don't think they can announce the specific comp picks yet, can they? thus, I would think it is the last non-comp pick in the 5th round in 2018

You can trade next years comp picks. It just has to be conditional. It was done several times last year.

When? When was a compensatory pick - that hasn't even been awarded yet - been traded?

There's no guarantee of what picks they will be getting or where. There's zero chance to trade something you don't even have. You can speculate about what you think you might be getting and trade your current picks based on that, but there's no way to trade a commodity you don't have.
