Prayers out to Newman.
Hamlin’s celebration was muted as emergency crews tended to Ryan Newman after he was involved in a horrific crash on the final lap. Newman, who held the lead as the field took the white flag, got turned while racing for the win, and his No. 6 Ford slammed into the wall then flipped up and over landing on its roof before Corey LaJoie’s Ford slammed into his car, flipping the car once again.

The first closest finish was also by Hamlin 3 years ago at Daytona.

That was a scary crash. Any word on what injuries he sustained?

It was today Tuesday February 18th 2001, Dale Earnhardt lost his life @ Daytona on the last lap as well. It was also the last fatality in NASCAR. Never forgotten.
