Owner Jerry Jones calls it a priority to address Brandon Carr’s contract in the next two months.

“Without getting vague here, all contracts that we don’t have closure on are a priority,’’ Jones said Wednesday from the team’s annual golf tournament for sponsors. “He certainly is a player who is in our top consideration.

“So yeah, I’d say that’s a priority. We want him on the football field.’’

Carr counts $12.7 million against the salary cap this season. His base is $8 million. That’s a high price for a cornerback who is coming off a season where he failed to intercept a pass.

If Carr refuses to take a reduction, the Cowboys can designate him as a post June 1 cut, meaning his base salary will come off this year’s cap but a charge of $7.4 million will roll into next season. Another option would be to restructure his contract to lessen the cap hit for this season yet provide him with more guaranteed money.

  • Dallas Cowboys 53-man roster projection: Plenty of competition at linebacker; could Cowboys carry five RBs?

So if they cut him, wil that money go to Scandrick, since he's whining about his contract.
If he takes a pay cut...same thing.....that would be like slapping Carr in the face.....

Does he look like Michael Irvin being totally irrelevant?

Hope they work this out to a win-win.

I haven't thrown my hat into the ring on this subject as of yet, but I have, and always have had the distinct feeling this will end in the team's favor.
He will be here and be here playing for less. How much? I really couldn't say, but I truly believe Jerry is on a roll and will face to face with old boy and things will roll from there.

God! I wish I could be there drinking the good stuff with them... yucking it up while Carr gives up millions to help his team...
Good times!

Yeah Carr seems like a nice guy, but I don't think he's nice enough to say "Here Orlando, have 3 mil"

Well if we keep him, MO has to go. We can't keep both.

Both can be liabilities, mainly MO. Horrible Corner.
