IRVING, Texas – Preseason is in the books, and it’s time for the Cowboys to trim their roster from 75 players to 53 by Saturday. Below is my Dallas Cowboys 53-Man Roster Projection – my assessment based on the work these players put in throughout the offseason, a month of training camp and four preseason games.

I have gone one player short (52) in order to have the flexibility to add a player through waivers or trade. If the team decides to go with a complete 53-man roster, which is likely, I would addKen Bishop back to the roster.

Where things could get interesting is if they decide to keep rookie quarterback Jameill Showers on the active roster instead of safety Danny McCray. I am taking a bit of a gamble there, so we will see.
Broaddus: I might be wrong right out of the box here by keeping Showers. My reasoning here is that I feel comfortable with my core special teamers and I am willing to go one light there by not keeping Danny McCray on the roster in order to make that happen.

Almost all projected 53's look a like this year, expect for one stab in the dark. Broaddus goes with Showers. I don't see it though

I think Gus Johnson has a better shot at the 53 then Showers

Both Gus and Showers have been released according to the Cuts thread

I thought Johnson was already waived.

Take it to the Roster Zone.

Official cuts should be discussed in the Fan Zone. Individual threads are welcome at this time.

Articles projecting cuts have been going in the Fan Zone and discussion there is fine as well.

I don't know what Swaim did to Broaddus but, for some reason, he seems to hate Swaim's guts. Who cares if Swaim has similar skill set to Escobar? What, we can't have two people with similar skills at the same position? Is there some unwritten law against this? If Escobar gets hurt, I think it would be good to have someone with ... (drum roll, please) a similar skill set step in.

If one of the 3 TEs gets hurt, who are we going to get on the waiver wire? Swaim has no chance of lasting on the PS. And, next year Hanna is most likely gone. So, next year I would think that it would be better to have Swaim, who flashed potential in this preseason and would have one year under his belt, ready to step in.

But, other than that, it looks like a good guess at the 53. Of course, Showers didn't make it. I would guess that Bishop might be ahead of T McClain right now.

I think they go with McCray over Showers, but that's pretty much what I have. Still would like to see them keep Bishop, whether that means we release TMcClain or trade JHanna, I'd like to see that happen.

edit: just realized he only has 52, so I'd keep Gibson and then keep Bishop if I made one of those 2 moves.
