Hopes are up that the Cowboys are coming close to erasing thier injury report as the team heads into its three-day bye weekend.

With rookie safety Mike Hamlin (wrist) practicing for the first time since the preseason, only four players were held out in the off week's two workouts. Roy Williams (ribs), Gerald Sensabaugh (thumb) and Felix Jones (knee) all did some light running.

The good news is those three should all be back when the Cowboys begin preparing for the Atlanta Falcons in earnest next Wednesday.

"They say all of them should practice except for Curtis Johnson," Phillips said.

Johnson, the pass rush specialist the team claimed just before final cuts, has missed all but one game with a hamstring injury.

Phillips also said it was not likely rookie tackle Robert Brewster (torn pectoral muscle) would be able to contribute this season when his Physically Unable to Perform exemption runs out.

So much for that. Of course Wade not the best injury prognosticator.

If this is true, why not IR him?

Players on PUP don't count against the roster. He'll be placed on IR next Monday/Tuesday most likely, when PUP "runs out."

I now expect Brewster back within a week or two!

Once you put him on IR, he can't practice with Team. So maybe the plan is for him to practice at least those 3 weeks, that he has an exemption for. That might give him a leg up for next year. At least thats what the plan seems to be.

^^This. Plus, there might be a 1% chance he could come back and play, so may as well take it if it doesn't hurt anything. That is assuming PUP players can practice with the team. I don't know if they can or can't.
