[FONT=verdana,geneva]If the Cowboys decide to rest Marion Barber Monday night, it could end up helping the team’s pass rush.[/FONT][FONT=verdana,geneva]As odd as that sounds, but if Barber is ruled inactive for the game, the Cowboys don’t have another running back on the 53-man roster to replace him with. [FONT=verdana,geneva]So it’s likely the Cowboys would simply make Curtis Johnson active for the first time.[/FONT][FONT=verdana,geneva]Johnson, a pass-rushing outside linebacker who has been slowed by a hamstring injury since joining the team back in August, would not only provide another special teams player, but could help the Cowboys’ thin rotation of pass-rushers.[/FONT]

[FONT=verdana,geneva]The Cowboys haven’t rotated much with DeMarcus Ware and Anthony Spencer in the first two games. While Wade Phillips said Saturday the team is working towards getting Victor Butler and Steve Octavien a few more snaps, it’s not easy to take out Ware, or even Spencer, for an unproven player. [FONT=verdana,geneva]Johnson played in seven games last year for the Colts and recorded a sack. While he was a defensive end in Indy’s scheme, his primary job for now is to just rush the passer, so switching to a 3-4 outside linebacker shouldn’t be an issue. [/FONT]
