With the rains falling outside The Ranch, the Cowboys concluded their two days of visits with as many as 30 national draft prospects, which on Friday included wide receivers Patrick Turner of USC and Mohamed Massaquoi of Georgia.

In all, between the local guys working out this past Monday on Dallas Day and the national prospects coming in Thursday and Friday, the Cowboys coaches, scouts and owner Jerry Jones met with 55 players in all for one last checkup before next Saturday’s NFL Draft.

The Cowboys continue to give off indications selecting a quarterback late in the draft is a good possibility, visiting on Friday with San Jose State quarterback Tom Brandstater, who certainly looks the part at 6-5, 220 pounds. Brandstater, a three-year starter at San Jose State, figures to be a late-round pick or free-agent signee.

The Cowboys also visited with Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee on Thursday and brought in three local quarterbacks on Monday, Missouri’s Chase Daniel, Sam Houston State’s Rhett Bomar and New Mexico State’s Chase Holbrook.

sounds like the boys are doing more homework than usual when it comes to the draft.

Actually, they've always kept themselves quite busy and they did a pretty damn good job last season.

Have we brought in this many WRs the last few years? Does not seem like it but I could be wrong.

It appears likely we're either drafting a QB this year (like we intended to do last year with Booty) or we'll definitely pick up one as an UDFA.

It's good that we're thinking ahead and wanting to groom at least a number 2.

Yeah, at this point it's almost certain we'll take a WR at some point.
