It never fails at the Media Center here at the Super Bowl. If you look left and then look right, you’ll not only recognize about five people in the process, but a few of them have some Cowboys ties.
Just ran into Eddie George, who made that one-year stop with the Cowboys back in 2004. I asked him if he ever imagined Tony Romo, who was just a second-year quarterback and probably a guy on the outside looking in had it not been for the Quincy Carter release, would be a star in this league. But surprisingly, George said he’s not shocked Romo has turned out like this.
“You know what, I kind of have did,” George said. “Because Tony is the type of quarterback who would read these books by guys like Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods, stuff like “What it takes to be a champion.” He had that raw talent. He’s a gunslinger who took chances. Anytime you have an opportunity in this league, you can morph it into whatever you want to be. I think Tony definitely deserves everything he gets . . . that’s positive. He’s been phenomenal.”
