How is it bad for the NFL? I don't think players should have to play for a team simply because they were drafted there. If Haynesworth's deal makes it more expensive for the Cowboys to keep Ware, so what? Why is that bad? Snyder is bad for the Commanders, but I think the NFL will survive.

If it makes Ware more expensive, that means we have less room under the cap to sign other players.

Your owner seems to look at the current market rate and add 30% to it. Naopleon Syndrome is a *****.

Glad we locked up Romo until 2013 for under 70 million.

Paying a non qb 100 million dollars is nuts. I don't think even Ware can expect that. If he does, Jerry will play hardball, no doubt in my mind.( Let's him play his contract then places the franchise tag on him like he did with Flo.)

I still think Ware will give us a discount like Romo did.
I hope that you're right but I'm beginning to doubt that. If Ware gets a $100 million contract, I hope it's for 8 years with a fair signing bonus and around $40 million guaranteed over the 1st 5 years. That would still be $12.5 million a year and it's more than a fair price from both sides. IMHO

Thanks to the midget in DC we don't have much of a choice.

I would NOT give DWare a contract that matches Haynesworth's...41 million guaranteed is a crippling number if a guy blows out a knee.

I'd offer Ware what we think the market warrants, but I would not pay him that kind of money. DWare will never leave Dallas unless we want him to...you don't have to let him walk.

He's ours...we can franchise him for much less than he'd be making with Haynesworth's contract. DWare belongs to Dallas for the next few seasons whether he likes it or not.

We're going to get two "discounts" on Ware. Hometown and one for resigning him a year early.

He's never come across as someone looking to get every possible dollar. He'll get paid very well and he'll be set for life.

There's a deal/number in the mind of Ware and his agent of what he's worth now, what he's worth in a year if a FA and what he'll sign for right now in an extension with the Cowboys.

I can assure you the 3rd numbers the smallest.

I'm certain he realizes that 15 or 20 million less paid to him the next 8 years or so wont be money in Jerry's pocket, it's cap dollars to surround him with more talent.

Every stud defensive player is going to want that contract or more. I cannot stand Daniel 'the midget' Snyder. Idiot.

Why so negative? Of course he will. Now understand I'm not talking about a huge number here.

A discount for redoing the deal a year early is not any sort of consession on his part. That's just standard practice.
We pay him much much more in 2009 than he's under contract for. We also offer significant financial security right now. This has significant value and calls for a discount.

Will it really matter to Demarcus, his children, his grandchildren or even his great grandchildren if he earns $100 mil or $115 mil over the next 8 years.

Really think about it. Does it matter?

Ware will get paid top dollar and he should be. If you are a GM or an owner and you want top-notch players, it won't be cheap. Someone's going to pay them, you can either pay up or rely on the draft in which you'd still have to pay top-dollar for a high draft pick, and or if the player becomes dominant, I suppose you could just let him go.

I wonder if someone would give up two number 1 picks for Ware. I would just slap the franchise tag on Ware over and over again. If someone wants him that bad they will have to pay dearly for him.

No offense, but that is a dumb arse way to run a franchise.

Sure you can keep franchising a player over and over and over again, but not only do you piss off the player, but you send a message to other free agents that you "play dirty" if you will.

So when somebody like Leonard Davis becomes a free agent and is looking around the league, do you think he is not going to notice that we "play dirty"???

Bottom line........You dont disrespect a player like Ware by franchising him every year and not giving him a market contract because it kills your ability to recruit future free agents.

And paying him that obsurd amount of money will seriously kill your cap. If Ware will not sign a deal similar to Haynesworth and he wants even more money, than yes keep franchising him. Its not the first time in the history of the NFL of this happening.

Really? What other players have been franchised more than twice?

Neo has a point: at least for his year I'd tag him. Where has JJ's MR. NIce guy approach to overpaying Romo, MB3 and others gotten this team? That's right: NOWHERE. Tag him....................seriously.
