Local Stadium Tabbed For Practices
Posted by jellis at 5/7/2009 2:28 PM CDT on truebluefanclub.com

While debris cleanup and restorative work is being done at the Valley Ranch practice fields the Cowboys will make Tommy Standridge Stadium in nearby Carrollton their temporary home.

The Cowboys' had a throwing session at Coppell High School today, but future sessions, OTAs and the June mini-camp will all be at Standridge Stadium, owned by the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District. If it's raining, the team will practice inside Coppell High's bubble.

These practices are typically sprawled out over two grass fields at The Ranch, but Standridge Stadium will limit the Cowboys' space to one artificial grass field. It could take as long as six months to restore the fields at team headquarters.

Six months? Wow. Didn't realize, but I guess with all the various investigations going on, there isn't much room for workouts.

That seems awful long to me too. I never really thought it would take a lot of time away from the practice fields. Oh well... I guess I was wrong.

where's training camp going to be held at this year?

MySA.COM;

01/05/2009 10:59 CST Cowboys camp at Alamodome set for July 31

Express-News -

The Dallas Cowboys confirmed Monday their training camp in San Antonio this summer will last three weeks.
The San Antonio Express-News reported last week that the team was planning on a three-week stay rather than splitting camp between San Antonio and Oxnard, Calif., the site of last year’s camp.

The 2009 camp is tentatively set to start July 31 and run through Aug. 22, with the team staying at the Grand Hyatt.

The Cowboys in 2006 signed a five-year contract with the city to hold camp at the Alamodome. A scheduling conflict forced the team to train in Oxnard last summer.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said last summer he wanted to split camp between San Antonio and Oxnard.

They must have hired my landscaper to do the work. I've been waiting 4 weeks for him to lay down my new sod, and he's gone MIA since Cinco-De-Maio. :laugh2:

Only one field.

VR has three including the indoor one.

Wade had better have his logistical hat on already.

I don't buy the 6 months for one second. That debris can be cleared away in one day after all the investigations are complete. They could even move it all to a warehouse somewhere and investigate. How long is it going to take to confirm what the weather did that day and find the weak link in the building that gave way. If that takes more than 2 weeks, someone needs to get another job and let a professional do the investigation. They need to realize at some point that they are holding up a professional football team from getting ready for the season. Confirm the weather and decide if there was a design flaw already. Six months? I'd be raising hell if I was JJ and they still hadn't given me the go ahead to clear that field a month from now!

He said "could", In theory it could take only two weeks as you say, he didn't give the low number, only the high one. Plus "restore" could mean put up a new bubble, which would take more time than just scrapping the old stuff away, not to mention all the investigations that will be going on before they can even get started. I'm guessing, it takes a lot longer to go through every bit of that wreckage looking for design flaws than you think, remember a man was paralysed because of this accident, so they are going to take their time to make sure nobody is at fault.

They are replacing the fields. There is 'debris' spread out all across the three fields.

Do you want Demarcus Ware coming up with a lacerated hand from some metal that's been sitting an inch into the dirt for two weeks or Marion Barber coming up with a nice chunk of glass in his knee?

Come on with 'they can just drag the bubble off and look at it', lol.

Do you even understand how much money is on the line here for all the parties involved in this event?

Everyone in that bubble could sue the Cowboys, the manufacturers of the bubble and the city of Irving if it comes out that it's not a case of 'Mother Nature Taking It's Course and There Was Nothing You Could Do About It'.

You ever heard of anyone suing her? Didn't think so.

Perfect! A 60 yard long football field for a team that only plays well 75% of the season. How can we fail!
