The Cowboys are practicing outdoors on their renovated Valley Ranch fields without a few injured players, including rookie quarterback Stephen McGee.

McGee, who injured his knee last Friday against Tennessee, wasn't on the field. DE Marcus Dixon (groin), FB Deon Anderson (knee), LB Justin Rogers (knee) also aren't practicing.

Rookie OL Robert Brewster (torn pectoral muscle) and rooke LB Brandon Williams (torn ACL) won't be out there anytime soon. Brewster could miss the entire season and Williams will miss '09 after getting injured against the Titans.

Don't know how Anderson is going to make this team at this point.
I think Deon makes it over Crosslin. Then Crosslin to the PS if he clears waivers.

Hopefully it's just a minor injury for McGee. He needs to all the work he can get.

If Crosslin continues to play well I would not bet on Deion Anerson job being safe.

deon anderson has not done anything yet to say his job is safe. Crosslin did a fairly good job the other day, so it would be good for anderson to get back out there.

Well, at the PC today, Wade seemed pretty sold on Cricket. Said he's one of our best special teamers and obviously our strongest lead blocker.

No sign of Stephen McGee

Fourth-round quarterback Stephen McGee wasn't expected to practice this week due to a sprained knee he suffered when he was hit after releasing his touchdown pass against the Titans.

But McGee wasn't working out on the side with other injured players on the side, either.

Wade Phillips wasn't sure of the severity of McGee's injury Saturday. We'll try to get an update this afternoon.

UPDATE: McGee won't play this week and might be out for the rest of the preseason.

Wade could live at a Holiday Inn Express and he wouldn't know.

I don't really understand the love for Crosslin. He didn't catch the ball cleanly once, and he's not nearly as effective of a lead blocker as Anderson is.

Not to mention Anderson is the superb special teams player. Crosslin did well once he finally had the ball in his hands, but that doesn't seem to be anything that Deon can't do.

Because Anderson was not on the field and has not been doing much since he has been here. Superb special teams? have you seen our special teams the last few season? nothing special about it. If Anderson can get back out there and start doing something I'm sure many of us would feel better about him. Crosslin did not set the world on fire but he did a good job in the game if he can continue pushing for a spot then good for him.

IF Mcgee's out for the preseason, there's chance he could end up on IR and that's not a bad thing. He was a dead roster spot. Too much invested in him to risk clearing waivers to sign to the PS, 0% chance he'd ever be on the gameday roster (he would dress as the emergency QB) unless Romo or Kinta was out for the game.

Keeping two kickers and three QBs really put a premium on the last roster spot. Having that extra spot may mean that an Ogletree, Mickens, Smith or Brown makes the roster.
