For a team that allowed a touchdown in fairly quick succession late in the Thanksgiving Day game, the Cowboys have a tough test this week against a team that runs a two-minute offense for much of the game.

Indianapolis isn't necessarily trying to hurry up with every snap, but by getting to the line quick before Peyton Manning starts barking out orders, they make it difficult for defenses to substitute against them, and can get opponents off balance. It's a ball control offense of its own variety.

Punch the QB in the mouth and gang tackle. That's how you stop any offense.

I agree

If Andre didn't get suspended then neither should our players

2 haymakers to Manning should do the trick

Now that we have "the answer" who needs a Defensive Coordinator? ;)

To be honest, it's been proven over time if you can get the players to preform the basics and stay with in the system even the most basic defense will dominate. Dick LeBeau did not break some deep secret code nor does he hold the secret to a successful defense. All you need to to do is listen to his former players talk about how they believed in the system, ran the system and executed the basics. When you do the simple things then the blitzes and stunts work.

As far as the DC job, I'm sorry I'm to busy to take it.:D

Hey, I was just taking a lighthearded shot - just being tonque-in-cheek.

But I agree, the key is to execute the system. In the end, you need players to do it and coaches to coach the execution out of them. In Dallas' case they have struggled in both fronts.

Ware hasn't been quite the same, but that's because teams can key on him slightly more since Spencer has been out to lunch all season. Also, Dallas has no 3rd inside LB to speak off (with Lee still developing) and they have huge talent-deficiency issues at both safety positions. Even then, Phillips did squat to adjust schemes based on that.

As far as the DC job goes, I'd take it too, but I like cupcakes too much and so I don't think anyone here would give me a fair chance. :laugh2:

All kidding aside, I don't think Pasqueloni (sp?) is the answer. While he's made the right adjustment - switching to a base 3-4 zone scheme - I think this team needs a DC that can assist in finding the right talent to fill the holes and scheme/coach correctly so that players can effectively execute a more-challenging scheme. That's easily stated, but a not-so-easy job to do.

it would also help if our OLBs actually hit Manning instead going right by and gently hugging him.

Dick LeBeau is a Jedi, dude. You don't know what you're talking about.

I agree... Physicality was missing from Dallas much of this year.

This year? It has been missing for years. I can't remember the last time we just physically whipped a team for 60 minutes.

How 'bout the Philly games last year? If I remember correctly, we pretty much dominated in all phases and bird-handled them

Exactly... I think Dallas played much more physical last year.

the best way to counter that is to keep the ball, keep running. and colts are bad at stopping the run (and we are bad running it). so if we can play keep away, we have a chance.

Beat them 2 games in a row if I remember correctly too.,

Doesn't matter what kind of simulation we do in practice....Manning is gonna cut us up like a Thanksgiving Turkey.

I sure hope so because if our DF gives Manning too much time our secondary and MLB is going to struggle in this game...here's hoping
