Five Days After First Visit, Ryan Reports
Posted by jellis at 1/19/2011 9:23 AM CST
Rob Ryan, expected to be announced as the Cowboys' new defensive coordinator any time now, reported to Valley Ranch on Wednesday.

Wearing jeans and a pullover sweatshirt and carrying a leather brief case, the former Browns and Raiders defensive coordinator was greeted by head coach Jason Garrett after being dropped off at the front door of the complex.

Hopefully this will quiet the "he's not really coming" crowd a little bit.

Now we just have to talk some of the people around here off the ledge.

How are ya feeling Hos? Have you started to come around on this hiring?

We all know everyone hates Buddy, but thus far the Ryan brothers haven't put out any bounties on the Cowboys yet.

Are you still dooming the entire lineage of the Ryan family or maybe just Buddy for now?

If Buddy stays away from the Cowboys and Rob can bring a top 5 defense to Dallas. I'm on board with his hiring.

Speaking of, the Ryan brothers seem far more personable than Buddy ever did. That man was extremely hostile and very non-personable. (and non-professional, not that the Ryan brothers are professional either)

So Garrett gave Ryan carte blanche to form his own staff with no input from him or Jerry? Sounds like Campo is a goner.

Also, why is it necessary to describe what Ryan's wearing?

You think when Josh McDaniels reports to his team, the press is gonna describe his outfit?

Blue Boxers underneath from a Tag that was sticking out in the back !!!

Rob Ryan just entered the VR complex wearing a potbelly and a pair of tennis shoes.

what? No coat and tie? Move over Barber, you need to make room in Garrett's doghouse for Dallas' newest dress-code volator.

And hopefully the hoodie in my sig. :D

I see a man comfortable in his own skin. :p:

He just has that air about him like:
I really don't give a damn about your fancy clothes and all your social norms; I'm gonna do what I came here to do; create the baddest *** defense the league has ever seen..then ride off on my Harley. :laugh2:

Beside; the hoodie look has worked out for Belicheat......

You would have thought he was in the Carribean drinking My Ties with Andy Reid all week from the nervous nellies on this board.

Leather briefcase ? He probably just had Saltines in it.

I know you asked Hos, but I'll offer my two-cents as another Ryan hater. I hate him and his fat, stupid, family. This is a major step-down in class from the Phillipses.

Honestly, if his name were anything but 'Ryan,' I'd be happy about the hire. I like his style of 3-4, and I think his personality adds a component to the team that's been missing. He and DeCamillis make an interesting combination with Jason Garrett. I expect the defense has a lot of fun next offseason, and it should make the games fun to watch.

That said, he's Buddy Ryan's son. And those apples fell right at the foot of that squat, small minded tree. If it were just the trash talk and the running up of the score from the Eagles game, I could easily get past it, but the guy put *bounties* out for intentionally injuring Cowboys players. Including our HoF QB. Can't and won't get behind that. Garrett, given that he played during that era, should especially be aware of that. It's a bad decision.

On the flip side, I don't intend to howl and kevetch about it while other Cowboy fans are enjoying the changes he'll bring. I'll grin and mostly-bear-it like I did the Deion and Pacman embarrassments.
