The Cowboys will address their left tackle depth by moving over 2009 redshirt draft pick Robert Brewster to work behind starter Doug Free.

Brewster lined up exclusively exclusively at right tackle last summer until he tore a pectoral muscle just a couple weeks before training camp, an injury which put him out for the season. Since then he's lost weight, and says he's excited about the move.

Brewster was the second of two third-round picks for the Cowboys last year, and a starter for all 50 games of his career at Ball State.

With Brewster sliding over to the left side, a competition could be forming for the backup right tackle job between fifth-year pro Pat McQuistan and sixth-round rookie Sam Young of Notre Dame.

Two gingers enter, one ginger leaves.

If he was a good LT prospect he wouldve been there before Sam Young

Huh? We had Flo and Free before. There are only so many practice reps to go around.

What Colombo see's when he looks behind himself now.

True which is why I still hope to see a vet player brought in as a primary backup.

The final protective line is still at Leonard Davis...and this gives some good work and adaptability being trained into this group.

Will Barker will also probably be at right tackle. May the best red ugly win.

They said he was moving from G to RT correct? We then drafted Sam Young who is a RT only.

Heres this..... just b/c its Robert Brewster related and theres not much on him

The Cowboys were reportedly targeting Max Unger in round two but after missing out on the Oregon blocker by just a couple of picks they chose to address their offensive line by reaching for Ball St. OT Robert Brewster in round three. A four-year starter for the Cardinals, Brewster is a decent athlete with good size (6-4, 325) and long arms but he will have to work on keeping his weight in check, getting stronger and being more physical. Ironically after not missing a single game in college Brewster will miss his entire rookie season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle suffered in off-season workouts. When he returns in 2010 Brewster will provide valuable depth at both right tackle and guard.

You can survive with right tackle a little more than left. Either way, we are dead in the water if either goes down. And if I am not mistaken, Brewster has always played the right side, either at guard or tackle.

If this is the answer, pray for Doug Free's health.

Mike Tepper might be better than either of them.

Yeah, that's comforting.

The guy gets run around at guard.

Seeing him at tackle would be a hoot!

Everyone needs to settle down about OT. 1, we're going to get a veteran at some point before the end of FA and, 2, though we don't know that Brewster or Young are any good, we don't know that they aren't capable, either. Obviously we need someone with experience, too, but just because the young guys we haver are unknown, it doesn't mean that they won't be able to play.

Whew, I was worried about the OT situation until you let me know we're going to sign a theoretical free agent who is so sorry he's sitting out there in June through four months of free agency without an offer. I feel much better now.

Have a little faith. The Cowboys have one of the best O-line coaches in the NFL. He will have these guys prepared come kick off.

Unless it is someone like Jamaal Brown, which won't happen, it will continue to be worrisome. The best street free agent would be someone like Wayne Gandy, but there are no assurances that would come to fruition either. I have a feeling this will be a source of concern throughout camp. I am hoping Tepper, who according to the ESPN bloggers, can be a player. Per them, they stated Broaddus stated teams had him as a fifth or sixth rounder.

Brewster played right guard and right tackle at Ball State. Switching from right to left tackle is not that easy, as Rob Petitti demonstrated.
