Nearly two and a half hours out from kickoff, the retractable roof at Cowboys Stadium began to open up, suggesting Monday night's game will be played under the stars.

The stadium's end zone doors remained closed, though they could be opened later. League rules mandate no playing conditions such as retractable roofs or doors can be changed inside of 90 minutes prior to kickoff.

I like this. Football should be played outside in October. There's something vaguely unnatural about playing football inside in the heart of fall.

Probably doesn't matter with perfect conditions, but if memory serves me right some of Romo's better games are in domes.

Sounds like another genius decision. Must win game vs a division rival. Open up the roof and let 1/2 the noise go out the top. That said it should look great on national TV.

The ONLY thing I like about the roof closed is the noise amplifies.

Does that help us or hurt? Quite a few complain about noise being to loud on offense and not loud enough on defense. Haven't been so wouldn't know.

I guess Jerry was just giving more lip service when he said he learned a lot about crowd noise etc from the Vikings game last season. If that were really true, the last thing he would do is open the roof for such a critical game. We need every advantage we can get.

the crowd is too stupid most of the time for us to have a real "advantage"...they scream to high heaven when we're on offense, and the pace sounds like a morgue when we're on defense...

So true.

I'm a bit northwest of town, but it was really windy today. It's died down quite a bit now, but still, I wonder if that get them to keep the doors closed.

Just to follow-up..

derekeagleton Derek Eagleton

Weather report says 20-30 mph winds. RT @trueblue74: don't think the wind wld be a factor with the gust up to 45...for the end zone

BTW, Martellus is trying to give away a ticket to tonight's game..
