Stretch Run Now Includes Felix

When the Cowboys were in this position a year ago – with five games remaining on the schedule and needing a strong finish – they didn’t have one of their top offensive playmakers.
Not only is Felix Jones healthy once again, but returned to that play-making mode in the last game, breaking off a 49-yard touchdown run against Oakland.
Jones said he was excited to play in his first Thanksgiving Day game, but seems even happier about being available to play in these important five games.
“Very excited to have my health and be able to play with my teammates” said Jones as he rushed to get his pads and helmet from his locker, en route to Cowboys Stadium for Wednesday’s practice.
Jones only played six games last season because of a hamstring injury and later toe surgery that cut his rookie season short.
Should December Mean More Tashard Choice?

It was right about this time last year when Tashard Choice burst on the scene, making his first career start on Dec. 7 against Pittsburgh.
Bad as the final month of 2008 was for the Cowboys, it was a pretty good one for the Georgia Tech rookie individually. He posted 166 yards from scrimmage against a stingy Steelers defense, then had 91 rushing yards and the game-clinching touchdown run against New York the next week, which he followed up with 90 more yards and a score against Baltimore.
The circumstances were different then, of course. Marion Barber's toe kept him from playing, and Felix Jones was already out for the season.
Either way, there's a case to be made for Choice seeing a bit of an increased role now that the season is winding to an end. He should be fresher than the other two backs, having taken fewer carries this year.
For now though, Choice's job is to be the Cowboys' third down back, run the Wildcat and play on special teams.
"Whenever I can I try to make it my time," Choice said Wednesday. "It just depends. Last year I just had more of a role.
"I can do a lot. It's not even just December. Whenever I can, whenever my opportunities are, I can do more than my ceiling is set right now. That's what my role is right now and that's what I've got to do."
