The Cowboys Could Use An Ed Reed

So could every other team in the league, right? And don't fool yourselves with any hope the Ravens would ever let Reed get away, or the Steelers with Troy Polamalu, or Indianapolis with Bob Sanders. Those three are considered the league's premiere safeties because they are rangy and can make plays all over the field.
As the Cowboys learned this season, NFL teams generally hang onto their great safeties if they're lucky enough to find one. There was a reason Ken Hamlin was available for a cheap one-year deal as a free agent prior to the 2007 season.
Yesterday Reed basically beat the Miami Dolphins by himself. He intercepted Chad Pennington twice and took one to the house for a 55-yard touchdown return.
Now, the Cowboys have invested a lot of money in their safeties over the last few years, but do we see any real similarities between Reed's game and, say, the one Hamlin and Roy Williams play? The Cowboys clearly need help at centerfield, but without a first-round pick it might be tough to get someone who can step in and play immediately.
By the way, the Ravens picked Reed 24th overall in 2002 - the same year the Cowboys chose Williams at No. 8. Enjoy - or get bitter over - these highlights of the former Hurricane's return to Miami here: http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80ddf862

I remember stating back in 2002 that Ed Reed would be the better PRO, because of two simple reasons:
1. he's a true ball hawk
2. a real of leader of men.
