There's Room For One More

By cutting the roster to 52 players the Cowboys left open one spot on their roster.
Judging by the numbers at each position, the most obvious place for an addition is in the secondary or linebacking corps. The Cowboys kept only eight defensive backs, and one of them, safety Michael Hamlin, is out another 3-5 weeks with a broken arm. The team currently has only seven healthy linebackers.
Players released around the league will spend 24 hours on the waiver wire. The Cowboys could claim a player cut by another club or sign a veteran. Either way, the likelihood is the Cowboys bring in someone to round out their roster by Monday's practice.
This is the point last season the Cowboys brought back veteran safety and special teams ace Keith Davis after he was cut by the Miami Dolphins. Davis, who signed a free agent deal with Oakland this off-season but was released before camp, is currently available.
The Cowboys don't necessarily have to add a safety because Alan Ball has worked there throughout training camp, so he and Pat Watkins are expected to serve as the backups to Ken Hamlin and Gerald Sensabaugh.
Still, there is a possibility the Cowboys will be adding a player to be on the 45-man active roster opening day at Tampa Bay.
