Windy, Chilly, Noisy Wednesday Practice
Posted by mickshot at 9/3/2008 4:24 PM
The Cowboys practiced outdoors on Wednesday, trying to get used to working in the elements, and those elements weren't all that conducive to football practice at The Ranch. The wind was whipping out of the north, gusting up to 32 mph, left over from Hurricane Gustav's swirl taking place out here. Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said if it's windy again on Thursday the Cowboys would move practice indoors.
Phillips also decided to make practice a tad uncomfortable for his players, which had nothing to do with the temperatures, which finally dropped into the 70's. He piped in music -- I called it noise -- so the club could start acclimating itself to the anticipated rowdy crowd awaiting them Sunday at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
As for practice participation, linebacker Kevin Burnett and wide receiver Isaiah Stanback practiced again. There never seemed to be a question about Burnett playing on Sunday, and now there doesn't seem to be a question about Stanback either, Phillips saying the Cowboys will have three receivers available to play the Browns, and his only decision will be if a fourth is needed. Not practicing, as expected, were Kyle Kosier, Sam Hurd, Miles Austin and Anthony Spencer.
