DC.COM Blog: Yes, There Will Be A Star At Midfield

Just looking through today's prospective mailbag questions, it's obvious there's a big hubbub out there about the star logo not being at the 50-yard-line for Friday's preseason opener.

In fact, some of you were very upset, but there's no reason to worry. There will be a logo in place at midfield when the Cowboys officially christen the stadium Sept. 20 against New York.

There will be a Ring of Honor and five championship banners as well, some of the other things the Cowboys are saving until the official grand opening. They just didn't want to water down Sept. 20 as the opening by unveiling all the bells and whistles in the preseason.

As for the questions about the video board being hit by punts, those will be addressed in the mailbag a little later, but I have a feeling there's really no reason to worry about that either.

So please, people, come in off the ledge. Don't let the incidentals ruin what was an amazing night to open the new stadium.

That is what my folks were told when they took the tour of the stadium that the star would be moved from Texas Stadium to the new stadium.

Actually to be quite honest I think anyone who comes in there, in the new place, and does anything disrespectful, be it posing on the star, throwing the ball at a clock or whatever in the back of the endzone, I hope our guys deal with it. I'm not saying they have to try and kill someone, or even necassarily go after them and get a penalty or an ejection. Just do something in the game, in the rules, that repays them for such things.


For example if Jacobs does one of those things again I hope it amps the defense up that much more and the rest of the day he has to peel himself up off the turn after nothing but huge hits.

That type of stuff. They should be every bit as proud of the new stadium as they claim they are and they need to defend it even more so than the Cowboys did with Texas Stadium when it first opened. I'd like to see us really defend this place like crazy.

They were also told that because the score board would block the star from an outside ariel view a star is painted on the top of the score board at the location of the 50
