I'm not sure who was nastier, LA or Big E.

LA was sort of the silent killer type. Didn't really say much, but just hammered his opponents.

Remember that newspaper article a few years ago that stated that opposing defensive players would develop the injury known as Allenitis the week they had to play the Cowboys? The reporter backed up his claim by citing the number of "injuries" guys came up with the week they were scheduled to play against LA, IIRC.

Yes, I remember that article. :)

In his prime, I think LA was the best inside lineman in the history of the game - if not the best overall OL because he could play nearly every position on the o line at an All Pro level.

Love that story about Allen.

Understand there's a possibility he might return for 1 more year to the 49ers. Probably realized he could do with a little more money so he's financially secure for rest of his life.

Glad he enjoying the life in California as he always wanted to live there even while a Cowboy.

Loved that story too, but I have never seen any OL physically and mentally whup opposing DL right before my eyes, pro bowlers & future HOFers alike.

Big E beat them so bad they quit on the field, or had to be taken out of the game, it didn't matter if you were HOF bound like Reggie White or Bruce Smith, a pro bowler like Fuller or Clyde Simmons, or a DT almost twice his size, like Jurkovic.

You didn't read that in any article, you watched it happen before your eyes in living color.

For 3-4 years, Erik Williams was the most dominant & intimidating player in the NFL, regardless of position. When you so obviously OWN the most dominant & intimidating LDE, probably in the history of the NFL ever, that is saying something.

I know everyone talks about Larry Allen but to me the most dominant lineman I have ever seen was Erik Williams before his knee injury. He was athletic, quick, and nasty as hell. In my mind, the best I have ever seen when he was 100%...bar none.

You know life was good when you're discussing who was the best OL and the nastiest OL in the NFL - and it's between 2 Cowboys.

He should bring those and show them off. The O-line holds one of the biggest keys to our success this season.

Yeah actually concerns me...

thing is we wont know for sure if they can run block til end of season.... a small sampling of games wont tell us much.

Didnt Charles Haley say he wanted to wear all five rings and knock Ronnie Lott the Frack out?

:lmao2:

I agree. Anyone equating him to Williams simply because he shoved a gnat like Deangelo Hall is misguided.

Erik Williams took on the biggest and the baddest in the game and reduced them to sniveling piles of snot. I still treasure each beatdown he put on Reggie White and William Fuller.
No one is suggesting Colombo has the same amount of talent as Big E, but I've seen enuff of Colombo to believe he plays with similar nastiness.

Erik Williams is back on the practice field

In his prime, Big E was the biggest, baddest, meanest right tackle in the NFL.

No one else was even close.

His battles with Reggie White were legendary. And he made former Houston Oiler William Fuller cry on the sideline one game - at least that's what it looked like.

For the next few weeks, he'll be a member of the Cowboys' coaching staff as part of their minority coaches internship program. Ultimately, he wants to be a coach.

"I want to do this," he said after Friday's practice. "I did some coaching at Central State and I've coached some of my agent's players. This is something I'd like to do."

Williams looks like he's in great shape, though weighs about 50 pounds less than his 322-pound playing weight. After a few minutes of small talk, I asked him the question I really wanted to know most.

"How long does it take before you teach the linemen on this team, the flying elbow drop?"

His reply.

"You have to learn the proper footwork, hand placement and fundamentals," he said, "before I show them that stuff."

Then he smiled.

Man, I miss the weekly beat-downs he used to dish out every week.

Where is the next Eric Williams?
