CANTON, Ohio - Second-year Cowboys tight end John Phillips will undergo further evaluations Monday to receive a concrete diagnosis on what the team fears may be a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his right knee....

that sucks, he is a favorite of mine and was playing really good last night as well.

With that said, if he is indeed lost for the season it's time for Sicko to show why Dallas perused this kid even after he wanted to hang them up. I believe he makes the 53 and this injury probably saved Crickets job as well. Phillips was doing a fine job as a lead blocker, he was going to make Cricket expendable.

Everything happens for a reason, lets hope these 2 players figure that out.

Shefter just tweeted that it is most likely an ACL. So bummed.

I watched the video of the injury. I didn't see any impact on the knee. That tells me this is NOT a good injury. That is a shame. I thought I was watching Jason Witten out there...

This makes me sick.

I hear you Amigo. He did more last night then Bennett has done since he got here. I was really hoping that the continued improvement of Philips would force something with MB. Guess that's not likely.

This is why I hate the pre-season.

That injury could just as easily happen in practice - No contact whatsoever. Sometimes these things just happen. It stinks because this guy would have had a big place in the offense this season because he is just flat out better than Bennett.

Hearing some bad news from Cowboys camp. The MRI did show a MCL tear for TE John Phillips.

That's much better than an ACL tear.

Nevermind, just saw the other thread.

True. It's just that we spend the whole pre season just hoping the team makes it to the season healthy.

Sad about Phillips. But honestly, if we get through PS losing just our 3rd string TE we are doing pretty well.

18 games in reg. season might not be bad

At least your talent will be mostly intact the first part of the season before attrition sets in. Didn't we lose most of our rookie class last year in games 3 and 4 of preseason? I can't remember exactly.

18 games, bigger rosters, more equitable spread of salary bucks. ...

It seems weird that nobody gets paid in preseason, only rooks that recently got signing bonuses. Only during the season if you make the team do you get some kind of paycheck. Very strange to see young guys lay it on the line that are basically playing for room and board until the reg season starts, if they can make the team or PS that is ...

Except that I think he would have been our 2nd string over Bennett. With Bennett the light is off and he ain't even looking for the switch.

Phillips would have been a big part of our O this year. He could have given us what we were looking for from Bennett last year.

That was our first pre-season game, if we keep going at this pace, we'd be in serious trouble.
