Another work week looks to be ending without a new collective bargaining agreement. We've obviously gotten very close with the owners ratifying a proposal to end the four-month lockout. The ball is on the players' side of the 50.

The players clearly want the best deal possible. Throughout this process they've seemed united, even though many of them have to be getting anxious -- namely the free agents to be. Guys like Gerald Sensabaugh and Marcus Spears, tenured vets who had to settle for one-year qualifying offers in an uncapped system last season, want their chance to cash in.

Don't forget about roster bonuses due when the new league year begins, too. Dez Bryant is eligible for a $1 million bonus after meeting playing-time incentives. Marion Barber and Marc Colombo are also due bonuses, which factors into their uncertain future in Dallas. Vets across the league have some extra money coming their way.

The Cowboys would be really crazy to keep Barber and Colombo and pay an extra $1 million dollars to do so, on top of their base salaries. Those two guys should lead the cut list, and they shouldn't be the last to be cut and replaced.

I think the Cowboys will resign Doug Free, but I don't think the Cowboys will pay Free $9 or $ 10 million per year. There is a chance Free could walk, imo. If Free prices himself out of Dallas, the Cowboys will sign a RT in free agency and move Tyron Smith to LT. Make no mistake, I want Tyron Smith at RT for obvious reasons (see my signature). However, if Free walks, the Cowboys could consider allocating that money and making a play for a guy like Marshal Yanda.

A player like Chris Chester (Baltimore) brings the youth (younger) and athleticism that Garrett is coveting in the offensive line, and he would be a good replacement for the huge liability, that is Leonard Davis. Chester has good experience, and he can play center, too.

Give me Dominik Hixon or Jacoby Jones or Sam Hurd over the financial costs and "hidden" costs of keeping one Roy E. Williams. Citing Dez Bryant's youth and experience is a hollow argument for retaining Williams. Other teams don't keep over-hyped, over-rated, and ridiculously over-paid players like Williams on their roster, just for an insurance policy. It's ridiculous. They would laugh at you, and plug Dez Bryant in and never look back.

Two words:

Kelvin Martin

Igor Olshansky- Good bye!

Montrae Holland- Good bye!

I'd think long and hard about signing Daryn Colledge (Packers) as a LG and Chris Chester as a RG. Those two guys are going to be out there. Again, Chester can play center, too. He is a C/G. Leroy Harris wants to stay in Tennessee, and the Titans want to keep him. However, I'd test both of them with a contract offer. Harris is a C/G.

This offensive line needs two new guards right now, and every year that the Cowboys prance around, it just puts them further behind the 8 ball. How many Super Bowls since 1995? How many playoff wins? This team is 50/50 during the past four years, in terms of just making the playoffs. It just went 6-10. "Continuity" isn't going to cut it.

Why are we still talking about Marc Colombo (a player who is crispy toast at this point)?

If the Cowboys keep Leonard Davis, they could be headed straight for another Marc Colombo, second guessing situation. It could get ugly, imo, and Montrae Holland sure isn't the answer at either guard spot, not even close. (See above)

I'd consider keeping Kosier ultra-cheap, but Daryn Colledge has to be interested in coming to the Cowboys. Other agents and players have to see the Cowboys' weak guard situation. Colledge would be the perfect replacement for Kosier. Again, give me Chris Chester's youth, size, motivation, and athleticism over an over-paid, unmotivated, over-rated, too big, too slow, glorified bass player.

I want hungry football players who love football and winning, not Marc Colombo's band. Two more to go!
