DC.com: McCarthy won the job in 12 hour interview

Apparently interviewing many potential candidates doesn't work either.

I believe McCarthy was the guy all along ...... They just used this "interview" to make sure they could get along with him on a personal level.

And I do not mind ....... Mike McCarthy is a legit Superbowl winning coach. And he obviously has the stroke to hire his own staff.

This is a good move.

Even though I like the hire, I'm still a bit... confused... as to why we didn't interview anyone else besides Marvin and Fisher? I get that McCarthy was in high demand, but this is why we should've fired Garrett earlier. We would've had more time to hire someone.

Regardless, I like the hire and the staff be brought in, so I should not be concerned.

"He also said a term that was used multiple times throughout the interview: “we-decisions.” They emphasized the importance of being on the same page with both immediate and big-picture decisions."

I sure hope this stays consistent. Because if Jerry can slip T.O. on a team when Parcells clearly didn't want him, "we decisions" often only mean those with the last name Jones.

I don't know if it's true to say Parcells did not want him ........ I think Parcells figured he could handle him ...... I mean he dealt with Lawrence Taylor ....... And T.O. was just another talented nutcase.

He didn't want him at all but he realized once he was on the team that Booger was frustrated and needed some play.

Taylor was not what Owens was, he didn't argue or tell his positions coach and OC to shut up in front of the team....twice. Parcells is old school.

Has Parcells ever come out and said that?

I am ok with it now. I have done interviews like that too. I knew I was going to hire them within the first two minutes.

Lawrence Taylor was the most dominant player at his position in the history of football...TO wasn't...

I had heard Garrett let McCarthy know that the goat was in the back, the Jim Beam was in the cabinet. Get a few good pictures of Jerry and the goat and the job is yours. lol

True. LT seldom would show up to camp always had some issue and BP pretty much turned a blind eye but when the season started LT was dominating and game altering play.

The Cowboys got what they wanted with the 2nd interview. So why do more? That's the way I've always interviewed for job openings. You just do them until you get what your looking for. After that...waste of time.

I mean, I’m sure Garrett started out with a lot of power too. When McCarthy goes 7-9 this year, that’s when the “suggestions” will start coming, and if 2 years without success happen McCarthy might as well start preparing to be a “walk-around” coach...

Jerry: "Been coughing all day. I think I might be sick."
McCarthy: "Yes, we're sick, boss"

You really don’t listen. These were official interviews. There were reports we reached out to candidates before the season was even over. Maybe Meyer said his health is still an issue. Maybe Riley didn’t want to leave his cushy job. You really don’t like listening to any opinion other than your own. We didn’t conduct just 2 interviews. We have been actively speaking with other coaches since the buffalo game and prior to the season with Payton. So stop with your crap already it’s old.

That and I believe the Joneses when they didn't want a college coach at this stage.
Think they have a better chance with a "proven" coach than an unknown CC.

Jerry does not fear embarrassment...

When they installed the liquor cabinets at all of Jerry's liquor cabinet locations, Garrett had them set the locks to only work via facial recognition of Garrett.

Stephen Jones finally had the locks replaced to match his own face.

The meetings with Garrett/Jerry were really just Jerry taking Garrett with him as he checked all of the liquor cabinet locks in all locations (the Star, Jerry World, the yacht, the copter, the plane, the Limo, the party bus...). He had to take Garrett in case one of them didn't get changed. If any of the liquor cabinets required Garrett, then Garrett would get a new contract as the Cowboys Head Coach.

Stephen had the locks changed again to match McCarthy after Stephen & McCarthy had agreed that McCarthy would be the new HC.

The 12 hour interview was just Jerry repeating the liquor cabinet tour but this time with McCarthy. Once that was confirmed, McCarthy was announced as the new HC.

Garrett tried a last minute maneuver...he called Jerry and reminded him that there was that liquor cabinet at the strip club in Tijuana that they didn't check...
