IRVING, Texas – The time’s come a month before the draft for the DallasCowboys.com staff’s first attempt at a Cowboys mock draft.

The draft doesn’t start until May 8, so a lot’s bound to happen and change in the next month, but members of the DC.com staff have analyzed enough of the prospects to make their initial projections and briefly explain their choices.

Most mock drafts have a variety of choices for the Cowboys with the 16th overall pick, and it’s no different in these. While there are a couple similarities between the choices, all five analysts have five different choices for the top overall pick.

Here are the first full mock drafts from Bryan Broaddus, Nick Eatman, Rowan Kavner, Ed Cahill and David Helman

Seeing how accurate he was a few years ago, I'm surprised they allowed Eatman to participate.

Mosley, Hageman and Murphy would make me puke.

From pure joy and happiness? Lol how could you possibly not be happy with that?

I would take Ed, Nick, or Rowan's mocks really. All would be good drafts, just not sure how realistic any are.

For me, the last thing the Cowboys need is a linebacker with injury concerns (see Lee and Carter), a 1 tech in the 2nd round, and a DE in the 3rd who's best suited to play as an OLB in a 3-4.

Also, Eatman's mock isn't too far behind from being the worst, for me at least...

Mosley never actually missed a game for all of these mysterious injury concerns.

You're discounting Hageman's athletic ability. He's far from a typical 1 tech. Him and Melton playing next to each other would be a handful for any o line.

This board talks up every other 250 lb pass rusher (Barr, Ford, Attoachu). Why not Murphy? And in the 3rd would be amazing value. He out produced all 3 of them, would be the best against the run, and he's a very underrated athlete and will provide plenty of pass rusher.

If we were to get all 3 and then add either an under 30 studs free agent DE or a top pick at DE next off-season we would be talking about having 1 of the best young front 7s in all of football.

Out of those five mock drafts six different DEs were picked in the first three rounds. There isn't much of a consensus for Ware's replacement. It will be interesting to see who we end up with.
