JACK WEST - SAN ANTONIO, TX: I hear Alex Barron is holding his own against DeMarcus Ware. Do you think he will start getting some first-team reps in training camp?
Nick: I really don't think they will do that right now. I think they know he's a very capable backup but to pull out Doug Free would probably seem like this team is backtracking a bit. They want to give Free every opportunity to win the job. Now, do I think they should? Yes I do. I think you play the best player regardless what you want to do. But I really don't see Barron ever working with the first-team for a while.
Rob: When asked that question, Wade Phillips didn't exactly rule it out, but it also didn't sound like something on the horizon. This still appears to be Doug Free's job to lose, and he needs the work more than Barron does. Barron has 74 career starts at left tackle; Free has none. Might be good to get Barron some work there, though, just to get accustomed to the rest of the first group.
Josh: Yeah, they're liking the way Barron has looked, but I've also heard good things about Free. I go back to last year when we thought Montrae Holland would get to compete with Kyle Kosier, but that was never the case. They've made the decision to go with Free, and unless something happens to change their mind, they won't. Free needs the first-team work if he's their guy.
ANDRE ODOM - SAN ANTONIO, TX: Should Cowboys fans be worried about Sean Lee being hurt?
Nick: You can be worried if you want to. Sure, the guy has injury concerns coming in and now he's got a quad strain. I think anytime an injury-prone player gets injured, especially early in camp when the contact is minimal, then yes concern is accepted.
Rob: I'll let the man answer himself: "It's just a strain. I think it was one of those things where I didn't do a good job of hydrating in between practices. The first two a day it kind of cramped up and I tried to practice the next day with it and I think I made it a little worse. But it's just one of those things where you have to take some time and I'll be back easily."
Josh: He should be back by the middle of next week at the latest. The good thing is he'll still be able to play in every preseason game. Wade Phillips said they're just going over things they've already put in so far, so it's not like he's really falling behind.
