Gronkowski out of Friday's practice, too

Fullback Chris Gronkowski will miss Friday's practice, and Cowboys coach Wade Phillips deemed him a game-time decision. Gronkowski has a slight groin strain.

"If he's well enough to play, then we can play him," Phillips said Friday. "If he's not, we can't. The thing was, he came up with it yesterday. That's more of the problem than anything else."

With no Cricket and no Gronk it is going to be hard to get any decent FB play. Witten and Marty B neither one have the right body type for the FB position. They are too tall and can't get that lower center of gravity for the leverage that a FB needs as a lead blocker. Hopefully their natural athletic ability will give them the edge to overcome that factor. Or maybe we just put Spears in as a lead blocker.

I would prefer they go with 3 wr (single back)sets more anyway. Garrett just needs to still run out of that formation and keep Romo under center on early downs for play action passes. I think that would be ideal for Felix since it would spread the defense out. Spears has shown he can fill in for short yardage situations.

Even though he is listed as questionable on the injury report and did not practice for the second straight day with a groin strain, rookie fullback Chris Gronkowski said he should be able to play Sunday against Tennessee.

"It's something I've been working through since last year," Gronkowski said. "I did something to agitate it a little bit. I just need it to calm down again. I've dealt with it before and I know how to deal with it."
