FRISCO, Texas – The go-to line about the New England Patriots under Bill Belichick is that they're going to take away what you do best. As Dak Prescott said on Thursday, they're good at taking away your fastball.

That raises an obvious question, though. For a team with so many options on offense, what exactly is the Cowboys' fastball? Prescott suggested it's more about attitude than personnel.

"I think if anything, it's our selflessness," he said. "Guys just being unselfish and wanting to see the team have success. That could be our fastball."

The Cowboys have been running the ball better than just about anyone in the league the past month, accumulating 804 yards on the ground during this win streak. But as they showed in the season-opening loss to Tampa Bay, they're plenty capable of airing it out. That selfless attitude should come in handy as they figure out on Sunday what will be required to come out with a win.

"It depends on the game and that's credit to the coaches and men in the locker room," Prescott said. "We prepare week in and week out, obviously come in with an approach to be balanced run and pass and if we need to lean on one more than the other, we're going to do that."

No Brady isn't there anymore, yes the Pats are rebuilding and not really a threat to win the SB this year.

But just the chance to beat the team that was the team to beat for 20 years should give the Cowboys incentive to play well and not overlook the Pats...

As long as EVERYONE stays focus, don't get ahead of themselves, game plan for each individual opponent, and under no circumstances take any opponent lightly we will be alright every week. Some weeks will be worse than others, but there's no reason why we can compete every single week if everyone is dialed in.

they did that for years to the teams in a weak division and never looked back. if it happens to them, then good. now they are on the other side of recieving

and yet in 2019 we go on the road and lose to the jets, so lets stop the overconfidence that bradys gone.

its outdoors in cold moist environment and BB knows how to yuck up a game when hes the undedrdog..2019 many games were lost down the stretch that all we needed was ONE GAME out of what 6-7 and it never happened

as great a start as this is , this is no time for the bighead syndrome to kick in.

you can be beat by any team at anytime if you dont bring your A game..playing down to competition used to be our Achilles heal.

lets hope thats another hurdle, another narrative, we clear but we started pretty ugly and slow against the giants and at home and that was division game.

this is on the road in the afc so...let downs can happen with a 17 game season. its not if it happens, its when..

:rolleyes:o_O

I would hope this team has grown up enough to know their jobs and to prepare themselves. I respect Belichick but I also know they were lousy last year and look lousy this year and all the coaching can't overcome lack of talent. I full expect Pats to play us tough but I also expect that Dallas go out and do their jobs and if they do that then this team should win this game

yeah, don't talk about 2019....not necessarily dak related, but that was one of the strangest years in football for any team I remember. the coaches on the last year of their contracts. go to the superbowl or you are all fired. a first year OC , with all of one year of experience (regardless of the genuis tag) that didn't necessarily report to the head coach, but the GM and owner. coaches fighting on the sideline. the team was full of tension and that tension created by the owner/GM.....it was a horrible environment, horrible culture everyone fighting. on 100 different pages. Jerry should have just fired Garrett that year and not wait until the end....not sure what he thought the results would be. was it a "I told you so" moment for him....just trying to prove something. not sure. I expected that from the team that year and had said as much...

down the stretch lets not debate this again dak had plenty of his own issues late that season ...yes its a fact.. so lets not try once again to deflect daks own issues..he snot perfect and was every bit part of the let down those last 6+ games..those are facts..

go check the game by game stats and notes..they are archived but i remember it very clearly and hes part of the team and had part in the losses some directly with costly INTs like in the NE game and then again on TG same pass same pick..etc etc Philly game while dinged he was straight HORRIBLE best way to describe that mess we trotted out there in win and you win the division type game..

DAK IS NOT SUPERMAN and hes not off limits for criticism. he struggled in 2019 late and the team yes also struggled but he was part of it..

I felt the 2019 season was lost when they made virtually no moves in he offseason to improve. They were fooled by some late season heroics in 2018 that their defense was OK and ignored some obvious warts from the Rams game. I'm pleased that we've traded Garrett for McCarthy and now we have Quinn, but the strategy from the beginning of that offseason was inviting failure.

That's just sports, new phrases are being made up constantly. Who was the first to call a deep pass a "bomb"? Before that it was probably just a "deep" or "long" pass. "Bombs" are nowadays often called a "home run throw" or such. Dak's not saying anything countless others have said. No big deal.

Some of them irritate me though, like when a baseball player is hitting like .185, and the commentator says he's hitting "a buck ninety five", which was monetary slang, nothing to do with baseball stats. Yet that phrase is still in use somewhat today (though not as much, thankfully).

Much ado about nothing, me thinks...
