SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Cowboys returned to Oxnard late Sunday night with four days of practice/walkthroughs left on the West Coast, beginning Tuesday.

Jason Garrett intends to maximize every moment available.

The Cowboys’ head coach saw effort but simply not enough execution in the team’s sloppy 23-6 preseason loss to the San Francisco 49ers at Levi’s Stadium.

“When you’re out there you have a responsibility to play at a certain level. Period,” Garrett said. “The standard that we set is high. We’re looking for guys who can play to that standard. We didn’t get enough of that tonight.”

The coach’s message was received and echoed in the visitor’s locker room before the short flight back to training camp headquarters.

I know how they can improve: Quit sucking and making me mad in these meaningless preseason games.

Good to see JG calling it what it was. I know it was just preseason and some of the offense was out however they looked clueless and like there just wasn't much effort overall. Like they couldn't wait to get the game over with. We'll see how the dress rehearsal goes with the Vikings. Bet Romo plays until the first drive into the 3rd quarter in that game.

Get the front liners on the field.
See everything works smoothly.
Get to next pre season game. Execute.
Go from there.
