Name: Roman Harper
Position: Safety
College: Alabama
Height/Weight: 6-1/200
Age: 28
NFL Experience: 5 seasons

Availability: Unlike some free-agents-to-be around the league, Harper has been participating in players-only workouts with his teammates this offseason, and told the New Orleans Times-Picayune he believes there's a 90 percent chance he will be back with the Saints. However, given last week's admission from the league that players with only four accrued seasons will again be eligible for unrestricted free agency, it's a possibility that Harper is at least curious about the market for his services.

What He Brings: An aggressive strong safety type who can play in the box effectively, Harper has displayed a pretty good ability to get to the ball once it's on the ground. He finished second on the team with 100 tackles last year according to the Saints coaching staff, including three for loss, and forced six fumbles. His lone interception of the year was only his first since 2007, but he also had three sacks on the season and has 9.5 sacks in his career.

Would really like to have Harper, but for selfish reasons. His dad was an asst coach at my high school and my health teacher.

I feel like a lot of the guys we talk about - Sensy, Elam, now Harper - are a great fit....

...as long as we get Michael Huff at FS

Can we please stop with all these free agent threads. We should all know by now that it is most likely that Dallas will not be in any position to sign any free agents except the 2nd tier leftovers. How about we wait until actual details come out and we can assess the teams salary cap situation. Until then, these threads just seem silly and unnecessary. Its time to realize that signing any of these guys is nothing more than a pipe dream!

I want no part of Harper, Seattle targeted him repeatedly in their upset win over the Saints in the playoffs.

He should have been wearing a bullseye instead of a number.

haha i def thought dude was like 38

I got the chance to meet him while my son took part in a local football camp... He came off as very arrogant and actually stayed on the phone for the better part of the day.

I think there are better options out there.

Weird reason to not want to sign someone. I could care less if he is arrogant as long as he can play. In this case, however, he can't. After their playoff game vs. the Seahawks where he repeatedly got abused (gave up like 2 or 3 touchdowns I think?), I hope we pass.

That doesn't mean he wouldn't be a great fit and help the team. If you base it on that, 80% of the players wouldn't be a good fit.

I understand what you're saying though, but could of just been a bad day. :D

Apparently, you don't know a lot about Emmitt Smith.

I doubt this. There will be some cuts and some renegotiated contracts. I expect two decent signings at least.
