Garrett Updates Status Of Chaz Green & Charles Tapper

tapper_charles-hs.jpg

(Aug. 23; 1:44 p.m.) – It doesn’t sound like the Cowboys are too concerned about either of Tuesday’s injury issues. Chaz Green and Charles Tapper both left practice on Tuesday afternoon – Tapper earlier in the day and Green toward the tail end of practice. Green’s injury was later reported as cramping, and Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he expects the third-year offensive lineman to practice on Wednesday.

“He had a good day’s work yesterday,” Garrett said. “That happened at the later part of practice, so we do anticipate him going today.”

Tapper left practice with a neck injury, but Garrett was optimistic that the problem doesn’t seem too serious.

“The X-Rays and the tests were negative, which was positive for us, but we’ll see how he feels today,” Garrett said.

Elsewhere, Garrett said the Cowboys’ veterans will have their usual off day during the practice cycle. Darren McFadden, Cole Beasley, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten, Tyron Smith, Sean Lee and Orlando Scandrick will all sit out of the competitive portions of practice. Those absences are not injury-related.

Both are going to get some significant snaps this year either starting or subbing. Cooper can play C/G. Green is the swing tackle and C. He can also play C in an emergency. Backup C has been a problematic area for me for a while.

Tapper seems to be susceptible to all kinds of little injuries.

Seems that way.. I'm just hoping it's because he hasn't really played ball in awhile. So getting back into pads might take a bit to get his body use to the contact again

He's taken snaps but I imagine it was just to see if he could do it in an emergency. Cooper is a better backup C. Skipper took snaps at C. I agree with this as QBs can be picky about their C snaps. They have to shotgun snap as well. They are looking for versatility for game day dress more than anything but that includes the above.

Green is your swing tackle and perhaps a starter at LG. He just needs to stay on the field.

I know there isn't a ton of talent out there two replace them, but I really wish we were not relying on either of these two to produce or stay healthy. They can't even make it through a week of practice without finding something else to set them back
