awesome jerry. why don't you just throw it up in neon lights - 'you can get more money if you really press me.' have you even seen your cap number? you might wanna start gauging the distance across your desk to the players chin. you can still make a fist, right? just fold your fingers UNDER your thumb - and tense.

There is no way I see a rookie RB carrying the work load similar to what Murray did last year. I don't see Garrett trusting a rookie RB in key moments of a football game. Which is why I doubt a RB goes number one if Murray is not signed.

Pretty sure Randle will handle a lot of the duty (if he stays), or if Murray leaves we'll sign a vet to share the load until the rookie gets acccumilated.

NDIANAPOLIS – For months now, the discussion has centered on finding a number that both DeMarco Murray and the Cowboys could agree on to keep him in Dallas.
Speaking from his nearly-snowbound bus this weekend, Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said it’s a much more fluid process trying to keep the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year in place.

“I don’t see a number. I see a range,” Jones said. “That’s not uncommon … In a legitimate negotiation you usually have both of them thinking ranges. You have both of them in brackets. You have both of them thinking brackets and within the parameters how you get a deal done.”

That leaves some room for interpretation about how willing the Cowboys are to give Murray a big payday. Coming off an 1,845-yard season that saw him earn Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in addition to the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award, Murray has every right to expect top dollar.

With negotiations sure to play out over the next month, Jones didn’t want to tip his hand with exact figures, but his comments have to lend some optimistic about Murray remaining a Cowboy

I think Jerry is a straight shooter when he can be.

I'm not so sold on Randle, to me he is a backup RB, not a full load starter.

I think JJ is saying to DeMarco. You also need to come up with a range of options, and we can get to a deal. It's not about the Highest first year total or who claims highest paid, as many of these contracts never get there.

Also, to me he's signaling some other current players will do something to keep you, so why don't you show you will be flexible also.

Jerry must be the most unintelligent billionaire in history. Who enters a negotiation signalling to the other side that they have lots of room to move? I negotiate
deals for a living. I've never seen such an idiotic gambit.

Yeah he did not become a billionaire by being an idiot.

You evidently have no clue how he became a billionaire. It had nothing to do with smarts.

I'm sure you are an expert about negotiations how's that going you a billionaire yet? I did not think so. Jerry did not come from money his parents were not wealthy people and he did not make his billions by being stupid. Just another poster who likes popping off about Jerry having no clue yet it is the posters who have no clue. lol

On reflection, you must be right. Jerry can't be this stupid. This must be a ploy designed to get Murray to overplay his hand and price himself out of Dallas (on the assumption that, by his own admission, Jerry can go a lot higher in what he is offering). That would clear the way for AP while painting Jerry as the good guy who was prepared to be very flexible, just not flexible enough to accomodate Murray's excessive demands. Well played, Jerry. Truly a stroke of genius.

Jerry's range is simple.

Long years, low AAV. Short years, higher AAV.
