On the "official" Cowboys website someone asked about drafting for need, and David's answer was "You shouldn’t ever draft specifically for need, That’s how you wind up with lesser players."

I guess Dorsett was a lesser player, eh? How about Demarcus Ware? How about Elliot? Yeah, they're all lesser players

It's not all about need of course, but I just dislike the "all or nothing" viewpoint...
