Yes, Cameron Erving from FL ST can play all positions on the OL. Always good to have versatile OL especially when they can play like him. And I think he might just have a good chance at pushing Free or Leary for playing time.

Who is the backup OT fro Free and Smith? Weems?

Weems has been here 2 years.
Hawkins 1 year.
Last resort but an option is Zack Martin at OT as injury replacement.

Bottom line is we don't have anyone with any actual playing time as our backup swing OT right now. Yes, Martin would be an option at OT if needed. That is why a versatile OL would be a priority in my book. I think OL Cameron Erving would be an ideal pick if available late 1st rd. He can play all the positions on the OL. He could immediately serve as the backup swing OT and could fill in at either G position and could even fill in at C in a pinch. I think he might even be able to unseat Free or Leary at some point in the season. I'll take a versatile OL with the potential to start. And this is more about next year than this year. There is a good possibility this might be Free and Leary's last year here. Leary might play well and the Cowboys would not be able to afford him as a FA.

Erving is a pet cat of mine. I would be fine with drafting him if BPA.

Having said that, it difficult for a team to pull the trigger on a 1st round that is highly likely to be a backup as a rookie. Garrett will not been Free unless he falls off a cliff.

I would not want Martin at OT but that option allows the Cowboys to take a chance on a young backup OT like Weems.
