Cassell took a risk throwing the ball to guys not named Dez, I mean c'mon this core minus Witten has been really bad lately.. He did an amazing job with how little time he's had to practice with this bunch..

Look Weeden has had two years with this team, Cassell has had two weeks and yet Casssell looks and plays better. With time he will only get better, I like our chances..

That's what a starting quarterback is supposed to do. You honestly think you can have success if all you do is check down or only throw a pass to a wide reciever if he's WIDE, WIDE OPEN? That ain't how it works. You have to fit the ball in tight windows which he did, you have to try and get the ball down the field which he did, you have to be able to step to your left, get out of the pocket at times and throw on the run. Cassel did all of those things. He just needs to dial it back just a little and not FORCE it down field. There's a difference between being aggressive and reckless. That was his problem. We shall see if he gets it fixed. If not maybe we consider going with Kellen Moore.

You keep telling yourself whatever you need to so you can sleep at night. Lots of teams win playing a short, check down passing game. Heck, Alex Smith has made a career of it. But teams never, ever win when they lose the turnover battle 4-0. There is a reason why Weeden never throws to Williams, Street, etc. They are terrible football players who can't catch, don't know where they are supposed to be, and worst of all they don't compete for the ball and hang you out to dry. Even Romo only throws 2 types of passes to Williams: that goofy slant where he's wide open (because of Dez attention) or sinking throws at the feet on comeback routes that have no chance of being picked. Romo never throws risky passes to Williams because he is unreliable. Even Beasley has a penchant for not running his routes correctly and has been generally useless without Dez.
Your hero Cassel has one game left to make up his mind. Play like Weeden or sit on the bench next to him. He's got 7 interceptions in the last two games he's played and he won't survive another one.

If Street is so terrible why is that he came up with that amazing catch in the corner of the end zone? If Williams is terrible why is that he came up with 4 catches for 80 yards? If Butler is so terrible why did he have a couple of grabs a back shoulder fade and a tough one in traffic? Alex Smith? LOL what has Smith ever done in the league. He was carried by a dominant defense in San Francisco. Look what he's done in Kansas City without that defense. I never said Cassel shouldn't check it down, but you have to at least have the threat of going down field. Even the teams that have a lot of short and intermediate passes still have big plays within their offense and take their shots down field. If you just check down, check down, check down it puts little pressure on a defense. That's why Dallas struggled so mightily moving the ball with Weeden under center.

Who said you can?

Some of you have reading comprehension issues. If you wanna play the what if game you can say the Cowboys almost had an interception, but obviously you can't.

The Giants had four interceptions that Dallas basically handed them.

No iza reada just finze... Look at the replies in this thread and people keep talking about almost INT's MC threw, and that was my point. People bring them up like they mean something and they don't. So I made a Hyperbole point about since we are counting almost INT's then our defense leads the league in almost INT's.

People are just using a hyperbole to prove a point or an agenda. They want to make things looks worse then they really are for shock value.

That was my point about him, the team screwed this up by thinking he was Romo and could make all those plays. They were more aggressive and it cost them. They just need to reel it in a little. Not, go dink and dunk, but not gunslinger either.

Cassel is actually really good at drinking and dunking. He has the experience to let the plays develop and a little bit of "magic" to create when things break down. It's inexcusable to have him attempting throws that his noodle arm can't handle, especially without Dez. He needs to play like Weeden, but a better Weeden. Unfortunately, he may not be able to at this stage of his career and with such little time in our offense.

Reading this thread reminds me too much of the Carter/Hutch years. Romo can't come back soon enough and I pray we don't have to go through this in a few years.

Dallas hasn't ran 10% as good as they did last year. The eagles and Seahawks rb's will have a field day also. Just don't see how dallas wins either of these 2 games.

Here we go with the vaunted Eagles again. The same Eagles who ran for zero first game are going to suddenly shred the Cowboys because soooooo much has changed and Chip is a certifiable genius.

He threw 3 picks and one td. We're not in a place to give him a pass because he just got here. I don't see much reason for optimism there.
