any chance of this? Turner brought him into oakland in 2004. Maybe he would bring him here.

NOPE.stealth;1346074 said:need a hug there big guy? Whatcha yellin for?
and oh ya there is an easy way around lateral moves nowadays, its called assistant head coach in charge of defense. Which is a position higher than a coordinator there fore not a lateral move even if only on paper.
But yell some more I like it.

What folks on this board need to get into their head though is this. No fricking coach in his right mind is going to make this sort of move. I know some of you think the Dallas job is somehow better than others. But a guy like Ryan isn't going to up and leave his current job to come to Dallas. It just doesn't make a lick of sense for him to do that.
Some of you are going to come back with the "but what if we pay him more" angle. That's silly too. No team is going to let you interview their coaches knowing that you are going to make them a big money offer. All that does is create a situation where you might cost the team that was nice enough to grant permission to interview a few hundred grand more a year to retain the guy.
So enough with the fantasies.
Our next DC will either be Bowles or someone else's assistant who is not currently a coordinator.

Coordinators jump ship all the time at the end of their contracts.
Money and promise of future advancement would be key factors in such a decision, as well as the current Head Coach.
Now, what would be nice to have is a list of all Coordinators who are currently not under contract into 2007.
My guess is that the list contains slim pickin's.

And I didn't have to yell....
stealth;1346164 said:I don't think that is right, assistant head coach is higher than coordinator. Thats the biggest reason that position came into existance the last few years. Its a loophole around lateral moves.

Skin;1346173 said:They plugged the loophole for this very reason. Assistant Head Coach is just an assistant.
Tobal;1346191 said:We need a sticky, he's yelling because you can no longer use that loophole and it's been talked about 500 times, people just refuse to listen.
stealth;1346194 said:when did it get plugged, a ton of coaches in the league have the assistant head coach title. Why would they still be handing it out if it is meaningless?
correct.Skin;1346229 said:It's not meaningless, but they are still just "assistants" and are not able to leave without permission, unless they are interviewing for a Head Coach position. Those are the rules!
